The classic amphibian-em-up, Frogger, which was originally released by Konomai in the arcades and on retro-platforms such as the C64 and ZX-Spectrum, is to now become a Massively Multiplay Online game.
Developer, Flairloops Interactive, has said that it plans to bring the arcade classic back in a big way.

Frogger Online is set in the Frogger world, but 40 years after the original game. Players can take on the role of Frogger's numerous spawn, starting as tadpoles and levelling up to become fully-fleged froggers themselves. Alternatively players can choose to be a truck driver or even one of the crocodiles. We wanted to allow players to lose themselves in a totally immersive world and we are hoping that people will build what is almost a second life as floating logs or turtles. The possibilities for diversity are endless.
The gameplay will vary depending on what type of character you are. For a tadpole players spend the first week or two swimming about bumping into things for the most part, but as they level up they will sprout legs and emerge onto the bank, ready to face the other players in the PvP arena that is the road. Truck drivers will spend their time in driving school before levelling up enough to take part in PvP, crocodiles have to spend a lot of time learning advanced techniques in pretending to be logs, in order to fool the frog players. It takes a lot of time and skill to be the best in Frogger Online but it's easy to pick up and start playing - but a challenge to master!

Frogger Online will be holding a closed beta phase shortly, we'll keep you posted on how to sign up so watch this space.
