that 10/100 hub, is it per port or as a unit, if it is per port then it is a switch not a hub, and I can certainly find at least homes for around 5 units off the top of my head, take a look will you, is it either
a) 10 MBit HUB
b) 100 MBit Hub
c) 10/100 M/Bit per port
if its press a button to change all ports then its a switchable HUB, if its per port, then its a switch, and at that price, i can guarantee lots of sales, can i be your manager, and have you got any 24 port ones going up for sale :) ?

The Hubs a bit expensive, 8 X 10/100 M/bit (switched) ports + uplink £58 inc vat (retail) from http://www.scan.co.uk/allprice.htm#59
however I may be interested in 1 of the patch panels, how much notice do you need to get one in?

Zahr: The hub details say the following:
Economy 8 port 10/100 Dual Speed Hub
A dual-speed hub has two segments: 10Mbps and 100Mbps. Depending on the speed of attached devices, each port of a dual-speed hub provides auto-negotiation compatability which autosenses and selects the optimum speed.
Consists of one 10Mbps segment and one 100Mps segment.
Built in internal switching function automatically switches data between devices running @ different speeds, and establish`s communications between ports running @ 10Mbps and 100Mbps.
IEEE 802.3 & 802.3u compliant
8 x 10/100 RJ-45 STP Ports
Hub LEDs: Power, 10M collision, 100M Collision
Port LEDs: 100M Active, Link / Activity
Dimensions: 187 x 99 x 26mm
External power adaper: 100-240v
I know they arent the cheapest in the universe, but they are cheep.
I`d also like to point out that i have not used one, so i don't know what they are like. I`m just offering this service to reduce the individual shipping cost of the items that I want to buy :D (it gets divided equally between all items on the order, so far standing at £450 !!)
Also, all prices include VAT and delivery to your desk at i7 :D
SmartMonkey: As you never seem to reply to your icq, the patch panels can be ordered within a few days, but i should eb able to get them for I7 no probs.

Not to bring the mood down or anything but... Just a few words on payment.
I accepet only £, pounds sterling in cash, or a non rubber cheque of the same.
Not beer (as much as it would be appreciated), or any other item not considered leagal tender except Fully working and NEW hardware (that i require) to the same or greater value.
If i find that i`ve forked out £xxx and someone cant or wont payup, i`ll set wizzo on your ass :D And thats somthing you really dont want.

I've got a netgear dual speed hub and it serves me well but I will say if those 24 port patch panels are switches then I also have one of them and although they aint managed and dont do anything fancy they do have raw power and speed.
Ok they take up more room but at least you are talking expandibility :)

Talking expandability out of your ass i`m afraid.
Patch panels are just that, just dumb RJ-45 network ports for those of us that have a real LAN and require a central wireing closet. you just "patch" from that to the hub / switch or whatever..
I also have a 15" monitor going for £50 ono if anyone is interested.

ahem, are those the bargain basement smc switches we had at I6, for home use or even small office use they“d be fine, but I hope they won't be making a showing at I7..

those are the ones, why do you think I am flogging sitches at I7? It's so i know where I can lay my hands on 4 decent switches in a hurry, if the SMC's turn up! :)
BTW Z you know you wanted 48 ports, If you want it for I7 I can get you a second switch and the cable to gang them together for half the price of the first switch.
Let me Know via email if you want to go for it.
I'll send you an email as well.
