How many times have you called Tech Support this year?
Sure at the moment 22 days in, but how many times, did they sound scripted?

only IT tech support or any kind? because sometimes you may have to call, for example if your ADSL is out, quite often you'll call to say "whats going on" its not like you lack skillz, its just they clearly know more than you sometimes.

Ive had to phone bt many times this year because of their fopish'nes. 15 of our customers went down when they had their little internet problem.
Best quote so far this year was thursday when they said "Oh it appears all our homegateways are going down" as i was on the phone to them. It was most humerous :p:
i havent had to call any tech support for my own problems though :D

With work, I'd have a rough guess at over 40 since I have to call up the store's IT helpdesk to close service calls.

yea, i made a couple from work to acer tech support to make them hurray up with some stuff they were repairing.
I dont know if it was just coincidence, but when you name drop "oh hi i'm calling from ******** chasing up a clients laptop you have on repair, i was wondering what the status was?"
"oh, well our turn around at the moment is aimed at 10 working days"
"well my contract says 5 day garentee"
"oh i see you have acer advantage, sorry, didnt realise that"
called back again the next day, and it had been sent out. received it within 5 working days with the hard drive replaced (with a newer, bigger and faster one)

With some service desks I have to go through the main phone number and wait in the queue. This can take up to 10 minutes just to talk to a person.
Some of the more enlightened desks have an engineer's number which leapfrogs the usual queue system. The waiting time on these is usually no more than a couple of minutes.
When you namedrop your company, you sometimes find the person on the other end of the line is that little bit more cheery. Try asking someone how their day is going and what have they got planned for the weekend. It really makes a difference to the person taking the call. :)
