Logged in before work and killed a level 18 alliance in Booty Bay*
Does this make me a bad person?

not been around alliance areas much.

if booty bay is contested area then fine - any1 is fair game

if its alliance area - why did he attack you in the first place ? his own fault for being so stupid....

so no, not a bad person :D

The cunning thing to do is to hide in the bank of BB and attack people just as they are looking at their bank.

Now *that* is nasty :)

Ain't this still in beta and probably going to get wiped?

It's a US account so no it won't get wiped. The euro version is in beta but the US version has been out a few months now.

Booty bay is a neutral town in Stranglethorn Vale (contested) so it was fair game, but I just felt a bit guilty that's all :p

That ebay sale is stupid, 60 is easy (within reason) to get to. Even the epic mount is nothing to really brag about, plenty of people have them now, it's not that hard to make up 900 gold at 60.
The only thing to set it apart would be uber BRS/BRD* gear, the kind of stuff very very few people across all the servers have. But he obviously doesn't, since he didn't mention it.

It's also illegal.

All items/characters are property of blizzards from the license agreement that goes with the game and so cannot be sold for real money by anyone but them. Anything that does go for real money will get the thing being sold deleted and if it was an item risks the sellers account being shut down as well :)

It's so not wrong to gank in BB - it's happened to me so many times it's untrue, even if you're just passing through, some asshat Alliance (99% of the time a level 50+Paladin) will go for you just for kicks (btw i'm level 33)

Ganking has got out of control - there are areas in the game that are off-limits to Horde because the Alliance raid them so much (ie Hillsbrad) I say, shoot on sight, no matter what the level. It happens to you when you're a noob, so when you get to a decent level, it's payback time!

As for the ebay sale, well it's not illegal really, it's more a breach of the TOS/EULA. Blizzard have said they will cancel accounts if they catch it happening, but if you're careful, no-one will know you bought your account (ie the seller is damn careful to hide any identifying marks on the photos, etc.) My mate just sold his US account (as he's going to EU when it starts) for $900, so he's not the stupid one anyway :D

Tbh the only ganking I really see is in Hillsbrad, where you get all the 25-30 horde running around do their quests and the 30+ alliance flying in on their way to SM or to Alterac - and of course they have to pass through Tarren Mill on their way.
And of course Stranglethorn Vale, where it's a constant battle, especially up in Nessingway's Camp (alliance having the advantage of their base so close by).
Past those zones, I find it's very loose on the ganking.
Thousand Needles, Feralas, Badlands I find very quiet and my current haunt is Un'Goro crater where I've yet to be ganked even though I've had many alliance run past me (most of whom are 3-4 levels above me). Tanaris can be a little edgy around Gadgetzan and thistleshrub valley, but the zone being very flat and spread out, you can avoid anyone easy enough.
Maybe my experiences over 49 levels are due to me being a rogue, and as such spending 50% of my time in stealth.
