do sheep say "baaah" or "meeehhh" ?
it sounds more like "meeehh" to me but we're taught that it's "baaaah" as children
I doubt a sheep can even pronounce the letter B tbh
what do you think?

Agreement. I lived in Cardiff for a while, I had the noises coming from the room next to mine once or twice...

Im sure there was a study and it concluded that sheep have a local dialect. Thus in some parts of the country they say Baaah, where as others say Meeehhh. You rarely get a field of sheep baah'ing and Meeeh'ing as it's a well known fact sheep are xenophobic. They stick to their local fields and rarely travel unless forced to.

I've heard sheep go 'buhhhhhh' before.
Its a funny noise, but I've yet to hear one actually go 'baaaahhh', like we are told as kiddy winkies.

i can tell this is going to end up with someone going out and recording sheep sounds
Elbonio is right, its meeeh type thing

Great Idea Kev!
Come spring (I'll be dammed if Im going to stand out in the middle of the fields in this weather), I'll head out to my local countryside and record a conversation with the sheep. That way we will know if they say Meeeh, Maah, Bahh, Beehh or whatever :)..
Maybe others can do the same?, it could be our very own Sheep Study :D

obviously it would have to be camcorded to ensure no falsification of results.
lip matching and the like

i'm saying "meeehhh" but looking at the poll, this could turn out to be another bundle/pile-on arguement
bundle btw

not really, as there can be evidence produced for this

indeed: http://www.georgetown.edu/faculty/ballc/animals/sheep.html
it's a dialect thing, arabic sheep go "baaa baaa", turkish sheep go "me-e-e-eh", engish sheep go "Scep blæt"

I have been into the field behind me this afternoon... (without a dictaphone) they all say different... some sheep say "baaah" some say "meeeh"
I think abit of an undecided arguement here... aliens could come to us and say "what noise do they make?"

B: Gutentarg
C: Bonjour..."
