This is a serious question, how many of you hate one of your parents or siblings yet continue to keep on speaking terms with them JUST because theyre related to you?

This is a serious answer to your question timmy.

My eldest brother used to get drunk and beat me up if i did the slightest thing that pissed him off when I was about 12-14 years old. My parents could do nothing to stop this because he could over power my dad. Although he used to do this I still had to try and get on with him because hes was my brother. My parents eventully got him to move out. I didn't really go out of my way to see him after that.
After many problems he had with his life he died from a heroin overdose 3 years ago I do miss him because he was my brother but I still hate him for the person he was. My parents do get quite upset that I take this veiw of my brother but when you are subjected to that at a young age it changes your veiws on family life

I dont understand the wording of the poll

I dont hate my parents, I dont hate my siblings, I am on speaking terms with them

which one is that?

or is it neither?

edit: it's the second one, right?

Really sorry to hear that, man.
Kinda puts things in perspective for me.
Although this does bring up the question i have been thinking over and over.
Why do we instinctually love/forgive etc *solely* because we are related by blood.
Its not right, im sorry for your loss and everything your bro put you through.
But if somebody is a bastard they should be treat like a bastard. :/

If you friends let you down your family is always there. Is the way I look at it.
My brother was the way he was because of the things he did. He was a good person when he wasn't high or drunk these were the time I looked at him as my brother.

it's possible to hate and love at the same time, they're not completely mutually exclusive, just hate makes love harder I guess, wow, written a couple of lines and sounds cheesy, I should shh now so i will

I don't hate any of my parents, step-parents, brother or sisters. I'm on good speaking terms with all of them.
I could name something negative about each and every one of them, but none of them change my opinion, which is that they're still good people.

The old saying is that "you can choose your friends, you can't choose your family". The flip side of that is that when the going gets tough, your family are more likely to help you out and support you than a lot of your friends. In the end, a lot of people turn to their family as a last resort. I'm not talking financially, I'm saying they're there for you when you have no-one else left to talk to or get support from.

Yes but not all family will be there for you in bad times, yet they are generally still forgiven because of bloodlines

I have no idea either, get some skills timmy.

I don't hate any of my family. I do my best not to come in to contact with one relative but I wouldn't call it hate.

Some families fight of violence, some call names... My brother and sister used to call me fat, but now i have grown up and lost it all... I don't hate them for that.

My sister is living in the states atm, she came back for a week before christmas and i realzed how much i have misssed her and it was really sad to see her go.

My brother is away at college in digs 4 days a week, i miss his company lots, he has been more of a brother to me because I have grown up with him my whole life and we used to do everything together, his friends are mine and visa versa.

Seeing my brother and sister away from me alot more than they used to, proves my respect to them. There is less time to fight and we find it pointless. I will always now try and get on with my brother and sister in a more civilized and respected mannor.

"I hate making judgemunts on the spur of the moment, because there not always right, some are, some aren't. I like to look back at what i have done in the past, then make up a decision."
Quote by me at 3am last night discussing our memories with my brothers best friend and my brother.

If anyone has said they hate their siblings they have made a judgement on the spur of the moment and what their relationship is with them at that time of point. e.g. after an arguement.
