Hi Folks,
We're going to the Gutshot poker club's beginners night next Tuesday. It's in Clerkenwell in London (Old Street or Farringdon tube).
Buy-in is only a fiver but there are unlimited rebuys in the first hour so expect to spend 10-15 depending on how loose you're feeling and how lucky you are.
It's a great fun night out if you have some holdem skills, but you need to be there before about 7pm to guarantee you'll be able to buy-in. I've played through to 11.30 before where there were 20 or so people left, but most folks are out earlier :-)

I'll join you for the next one, might be hitting a casino on the strand at some point next month too :>
Irritating too as I'm playing really well at the moment! :P

Excellent, a good turnout.
I should point out that although it's a beginners night, you will be expected to know your poker etiquette, and be able to shuffle and deal (including burning cards) to a 9 person table with reasonable proficiency.

Bvark, Is this a semiregular thing, or is it a once off?

Every week when I'm in London, but there's no reason I need to be there ;-)
Gutshot runs games every night of the week, check the website for details.

Aye, that was a good night, and something to be repeated :)
Thanks to Phil, Mike and Lisa for providing the company, and no thanks to the damn dealer giving me crap :)

so, how much did you all lose? :)

£20.
I had 3 rebuys, but after the break the gameplay was tighter and had some good hands.
I enjoyed going out with pocket queens against pocket kings.
Great fun. Well worth it.

Apologies for being ill and useless. I shall definately be joining you chaps and chapesses next time. On pain of death. I promise.

Waxed 15 myself - Pumpkin and I were ground down (me after a couple of bad calls) by some superior players who were not afraid to put some serious cash (30quid+) behind multiway pots on marginal hands, and as a consequence got lucky.
Lisa's hand was the favourite of the night:
66 with three runners, KJ6 the flop. Lisa goes all in, both call. JJ and KK from the other callers, the turn is a 6. Sort of hand that can get you shot :-)
Another good night, although the performance of my lucky hat left a lot to be desired :(
