A Brief History of Beanz
My memory is all hazy, i10 I think was the offical Beanz clan starting time. Before then, we were few in numbers (2 -> 4 people attending events).
I5 : 2 .. therubble and me, hired PC's @ event and played lots of 8 player Shogun Total war.. awww memories :)
I6: 0 ..
i7 : 4 .. Unsure? Maybe Doucha, Kjan, Rubble, Me?.
i8 : 3 .. I was there, mouse? ermm Im not sure :(
i9: 3 ** Techinally only 2 people were Beanz, that was Doucha & Kjan and that was because they arrived very late. I was a member (for seating purpose) of MOB (minons of bagpuss). Samba's first outing.
i10 : 7? I think it was 8. The birth of the clan, really. Own room, many high quality members Rocketknight, Mouse, Doucha, Kjan. We also mangage to succesfully persuade ESB to join beanz (Endor, Spanky & MrBrow). It was the last time MOB attended as a clan we picked up 4 of their guys Crayons, TheEnforcer, Reaper, Maverick). Met lots of quality ppl that weekend (CD & LittleGem), also I believe we manage to persuade Arachnums to join us as well :).. First DDR tourney, was ran by Doucha & Rocketknight, mats / software supplied by Doucha & Myself.

i16: wasn't too bad for beanz, I remember a strange person sitting directly behind me all lan, drinking copious amounts of vanilla coke and had a "magic" picture frame. Quality bloke, and enjoyed the games we did, we soon signed this chap up ;)

i17: Was it an accident?. 18 beanz members!!, I doubt we will ever have 18 members attending the same lan ever again. Still all quality people, and a most excellent time :D

As for my favorite lan, it would be difficult to pick. I've enjoy all the lan's I've attended in the past. It's never the games, it's not even the computers, but it's the quality people I seem to meet at every lan.

i16 was actually one of my fondest LAN's - becuase i met all the people that i now consider to be some of my closest friends ;)

i put it in the poll originally but replaced it with i15 as that would probably be a more popular choice :rolleyes:


since i16 Beanz have grown somewhat dont forget - now standing at 20-odd members, all quality people. :)


Beanz attendance at i23 might be lacking slightly but we'll be back with avengance @ i24/i25

The Easter Stratlan of like, 6 days duration or whatever it was. Was that 2003 ? Seems longer ago than that.

It was like, today: Football. Tomorrow, Cricket, next day: Battlefield 1942, Day after, something else.

Better than going away on holiday :)

i11, i15 and i17 all ruled and it was close between 11 and 15 for my favourite - 15 won it in the end of rits shear size and therefore huge choice of games.

14 was the least favourite of the 4 ive been to although 21 was cool to spectate

i15 was scary, as I was new to the i-series and was only a speccy.

i16 rocked for various reasons:
Totty's BBQ #1
Being in the winning amateur CS clan (h4x)
Sitting next to Elbonio
Meeting Gunny for the first time and ordering him to blow up my airbed
Totty's Big Brother tent of win :)

i17 was cool - 1st event as staff and when I met my Dave for the first time (allegedly I joined his quiz team while drunk)

Every SLAN I have been to rocked - including my first EVER one where I was owned by Bombay Sapphire (shudder!) and had a very angry dad!

i20 was great for its smallness and for the birth of tag team DDR

i21 was cool as Towneh handed AcidRenix his arse on a platter in DDR and simon says DDR began

i22 was VERY fun, as we took over the Tote (now known as Totty) building for "geek-araoke" and line dancing, as well as the DDR which got VERY heated at some points

Every FBL has been fantastic
TBG is fab for that "back to proper lan" lanning
Banlan (cough cough pimp) has always rocked
And Llamalan 4 was fab :hearts: :hearts:

Actually we were BSE, (which we still use for our racing team).

And we were at i8 and i9 as well. So there was kinda more people there.

A world of Freelancer on one server, An excellent BIG game of BF1942, my first intorduction to C&C:Generals, My team winning the football tournie, and i got to know a lot more of the lovley people in the community.(iirc i sat next to tsunami as he was the only person there i kind of knew!)

In short, my Favorite LAN, But i15 is very close behind.

Any of the earlier StratLan's held at the sea cadets hut. Small venue, very intimate, everyone knew each other, and the best games of Allegiance Ive ever played in.

That and the copious amounts of Rum that was on offer aswell.

I cant remember any of them, and the stuff i do remember i dont know which event it was.

Although ,some of my favourite bits were the all duff generals zero hour finals, the snow!, the beeramyd, first big game of joint ops, when i won in the raffle !

As far as gaming goes, "random-local-lan #5" with the mamoth ~2hr game of UT CTF. Teams were so balanced it was unbelievable, the cap limit was only 3 ;)

From a social point of view. I think it was i10 - back when I was a wee yellow shirt (shock).

"zip, flop & swallow" just about sums it up ;)

for me i thought i21 was clearly the win with meeting up with most FTA members for the 1st time, and then proceeding to own any competition we entered. also our curry night on the Friday topped it all off. i17 was a pretty good LAN tho, incredibly hot though.
