Okay, I will start by saying I know I am not a great artist, I would like to try and get slightly better however so I decided to buy a sketch book. I have been pissing about and I did this.

I know it aint great but I was wondering if you guys could maybe give me some feedback on how I could improve it.

(I am being serious here, please no "It's just ****, give up" posts)

omg, how did you do that ? i cant draw people to save my life, they come out as little scribbles.

might be an idea to get a page over at www.deviantart.com as there are loads of artists there who could give you far more productive feedback.

personally i think its pretty good, just keep practising :)

Little tip on drawing people, peoples shoulders NEVER go directly out to the sides, if you have trouble distinguishing from photos or real life, do an outline trace from a photo, and practice redrawing it from the outline until you get it right.

Thanks for the comments :)

It was drawn in pencil. It is just the way it has come out when I scanned it.

As for the shoulders, thanks for the tip, will work on them :)

For facial features imagine a cross drawn on the face (dividing the face into 4). The bridge of the nose is approx where the cross meets in the middle. The eyes sit on the horizontal line of the cross and everything else just seems to fall into place. however the cross doesnt divide the face horizontally EXACTLY in the middle.. its more sort of about 1/3 from the top of the head

Sorta like that (if you can imagine that superimposed onto a face)

fgs the forums ruined it! Anyway see where the line was suppose to be.. imagine the rest of the vertical lines going straight like that little bit.
