Sticky please!

Add your tips here!

1. If you've completed a quest, and have a choice of rewards that you can't/won't use then check the rewards on www.thottbot.com before you chose and see which one sells for the most to a vendor!

2. Shift right click a corpse to automagically loot all the items off it, also works when fishing.

3. Shift click your bags to open/close them all at once.

4. Shift click an item in your backpack to split it, also works for buying multiple vendor items.

5. Click on a persons name in chat to /tell them, shift click to do a /who on them.

6. Shift click an item when chat is open to put a link to the item in chat, anyone clicking on the link can see all the stats of it. Note: This does not work in the general chat channel ( /1 ).

7. If you accidently sell an item to an NPC that you didn't intend to, you can buy the item back from him at the same price he paid you for it. The item will appear in the bottom right of his sell screen. You can only buy back the last item sold!

8. If you are selling something on the Auction House, PUT A BUYOUT! 80% of people never bid on items, they only use buyouts - people want items now, not in 24 hours. Check out similar items to yours to see what you should set buyouts to. Don't be afraid of putting a high buyout on, people might pay it.
The only time you don't usually put buyouts is for blue (rare) or purple (epic) items as the value of them is hard to judge.

9. There's no such thing as killstealing in this game, the first person to do damage to a creature 'owns' it. This also means you can help someone out in battle with no fear of being moaned at.

10. If you want to have your mount at level 40, you'll need to start saving up in your 20's. Stay away from the auction house if you can in your 30's. Don't buy training for skills you don't need/use, they become very expensive, very quickly.

11. Mounts cost 100g in total, 20g for the training and 80g for the mount. However when you gain honoured reputation with a faction, you get 10% discount which you should get no problem with your home town by 40 so aim to save up 90g.
Epic mounts cost 1000g!!

12. Paladins and Warlocks get a free mount at level 40. mumble grumble

13. If you want to untrain a profession, click on the skills tab and the profession, there should be a small untrain button at the bottom. No, you don't get your skill level back if you train it again.

14. If you're a rogue, pickpocket everything - the rats, the bats, the guards and your granny. Ok you can't do all of them but you get the idea. It's free money and it only takes a few seconds.

15. Found a nice item for an alt? Mail it to him! Mailed items take an hour to arrive, money or empty mails arrive instantly.

16. Log out in an Inn or major city after you've done playing, for every 8 hours 'resting', you'll get a bar's worth of double exp (max of 1.5 levels for 10 days). Rest state is denoted by the colour of your exp bar and the amount of rest you have left is denoted by a small white marker.

17. Don't like the talents you've chosen? You can untrain them at your class trainer for 1g the first time. Gets expensive after that, so chose wisely :p

18. Read your quest logs before squealing for help, they tell you exactly what you need to know.

19. Elite quests will almost certainly require a group to complete.

20. Don't eat yellow snow.

21. In groups, green and above items will be rolled on when they drop, a window will appear at the bottom of the screen allowing you to roll, or pass. Rolling will pick a random number between 1 and 100, the highest winning the item.
For the love of god, look at the item before you roll. If you've obviously can't/won't use it then pass.

22. If you're undead, don't go past the Bulwark at the eastern end of Tirisfal Glades. Just don't.

23. You can share quests with the button at the bottom of the quest log. Note: You can't share series quests with someone who hasn't completed the previous quests.

Phew.

3. Alter your keybinding for "Open all bags" from shift-b to just b to do the same thing easily all the time

9. They'll still moan about it though :P

21. This depends on the loot options chosen by the party leader. They can alter these by rightclicking their own portrait and selecting Loot Options.

23. Quests that give you an item when accepted (delivery quests etc) and class specific quests cannot be shared either.

So does this mean I can go around "pinging" creatures with a ranged weapon in busy areas, and get loads of XP when someone else eventually kills it? Sounds like hax, I assume there's a reasonable time limit ?

Nope, if someone does a certain amount of damage to a creature you own, then you lose some of the exp when it dies. They don't gain any however (to stop the killstealing).
Also, you lose ownership of the creature if the monster stops tracking/aggro'ing you.
Also, you can tell who owns a creature - if the background of the creature's name in the target box is red, it's yours. If it's grey it's not.

Get CosmosUI - here (http://www.cosmosui.org/)

It's worth it alone for the quest level indicators and the extra toolbars you get.

Always check to see if there is a Wind Rider in town - will save you a heck of a lot of walking. You can see the horde routes here (http://wowvault.ign.com/?dir=locations&content=routes-horde) The Alliance ones are linked to in that page.

I fully agree with Lucifa about the mounts - you really need to start saving at level 20ish - only get the skills you absolutely need when in the 30s. Try and use your hometown vendors/ skilltrainers as much as possible, that 10% discount really starts to show when you're buying high level skills.

When deciding what skills to train and what not to train, look at the actual difference between the next rank and your current. Many new ranks don't add all that much and you can save a lot of money not picking them up.
For a example (since there are a lot of rogues and I'm one) -

New ranks of gouge just add damage - the target is still stunned whatever the rank you use, there's no point in picking up new ranks of it since you are't using the skill for it's damage potential.

Same with kick, new ranks just add damage, the target is still interrupted and silenced whatever rank you use.

When replacing bags for an upgrade, don't sell the old bag - slap it in your bank.

You can buy slots for your bank account and use the bags as additional storage.

Now you have several mobs gunning for your blood.

Death will come shortly.

This is true, if the other people are half intelligent evil buggers, if you pull loads of creeps they'll wait until you're killed by them and then that's one less person to contend with.

And you can simply drag and drop new bags into position. I only found that out yesterday after having previously spent 10 minutes playing "swap the contents" after each bag upgrade.

Quick tip

If you get to the highest levels, don't kill the opposing wind/hippogriff masters in the neutral cities (Booty Bay, Gadgetzan). The cities authorities don't take too kindly to it and may not like you much afterwards...

To stop your bathroom windows steaming up (when you take a bath / shower) clean them using shaving foam...

Am I right in thinking if you kill any flight-master (doesn't matter whoses), every fraction (netural, as well as your own) will start to dislike you.

LOL! So special *ruffle*.

Tip: BEWARE! Do not spaff click when using the bank in case you buy an extra slot - it HURTS!

Extra bag slots in the bank go from

1st extra slot - 10 silver (at this point it's not wise to think yeah bags slots for 10s I'll have them all!!)
2nd extra slot - 1 gold
3rd extra slot - 10 gold.. and 10g there on in

Suggestion - get a ui with or just the mod stand alone that asks you to confirm spending over 1g on *anything* - v.v.v.v.v useful :)

Or... be a rogue... Pull a WORLD of mobs into a group of people and then Vanish so the mob de-aggros and goes to them instead :)
