Hi guys
Any idea what the snow is like at the resort? Various people where I work are complaining that the resorts they're going to are a bit lax on the snow front.

The last big dump of snow over here was pre-christmas and there hasn't been any significant snowing since then. If there isn't any more snow then off-piste will be pretty poor and on-pistes will be thin (patchy in places) or icy.
Because the resort is quite high up however, the snow might be pretty reasonable. It's pretty much dependant on how much they are looking after the slopes - how much fake snow they make and how well they spread it with the piste bullies.
Because of the sheer size of the resort you can pretty much guarantee that there'll be at least a few slopes that are lovely.
In short: The snow could definatly be better, but it's skiiable. Here's hoping for another big dump (Words never uttered by bvark's gf)

Bugger. As a boarder I was hoping for some decent off-piste powder etc. Ah well guess we'll have to wait and see how things are when we get there.

Just out of curiosity - what level are you at? I pretty much know about everyone else, save the new guys on the trip (ming, ping, baroness)

Pretty noob at the moment but have been having lessons. Can turn and use lifts etc but haven't really got much experience to speak of. Should be interesting if the slopes are mostly ice.

After what's happened to Zak i'd recommend people keep to the pistes until they really know what they are doing.

Yeah I think I might well do that.

The conditions that made Zak's accident so serious (dump of snow on very thin/zero base layer) will not be in evidence post-Christmas.
You should be comfortable with the level of risk you're taking, but missing out on everything outside the poles is an overreaction to a freak event.
Looking at the chart for Europe, the same front that's caused near-torrential rain in the UK should pass over the region in the next few days, and there's some snow on Weather.com for the next 10 days forecast.
