Since the events in Asia, I keep getting grief when joining servers online =(. It's not my fault my nickname (for past 4 years) just happens to be one of the worlds biggest natural disasters. Still all these other players (kiddies?) seems the need to point out to me how uncaring / thoughless/ tackless my nickname really is. Maybe I should change even just for a little while?. Hopefully people will get bored of the preaching, understand it is just a nick nothing more, otherwise I might just have to change to something else... like Heinz...

I did think about this actually a few days ago

i mean calling yourself 9/11 or BYEBYE^WTC or YAY^FOR^DISASTERS might be a little bit different

but i think its a bit daft to moan at you

though they dont know you so i guess you can just ignore it. You wont have had anyone in the mpuk community moan have you?

I would personally use "Tsu" or some other play on your own nickname for a couple months, then switch back...

Don't let ignorant people win

Well I quite liked satlag from i14 (I think)

when I couldn't remember your name(after a few drinks) and kept calling you satsumi, and then the next day your machine started lagging badly whenever you started to host things.

Are those were the days!

An unfortunate name at a tender time. Best to change for a few weeks I think.
Though most are just kiddies, there may be a few who know people out there and could be seen as a bit uncaring.
Seems everyone where I work knows someone who lives that in region or was on holiday there at the time (My sister was in Thailand! She's fine though, she wasn't anywhere near it)

Well on the plus side I won't be spending so much time explaining to people what Tsunami means. On the downside people will automatically think it's heartless even though it's been called that since 1997!

(For those bewildered I run a sideline IT consultancy under the name Tsunami Interactive Ltd - http://www.tsunami-int.co.uk)

I tried to get hold of tsunami.co.uk a year ago and the cybersquatters holding it wanted £800. I wonder how much they'd charge now to a charity!

Well, ok, it's not the MPUK community at all, but then you guys/girls known me b4 this terrible event..
Ok I'm sure most of the people online are just petty minded, but I'm also sensitive to the fact that it might upset anyone who has been directly effected by this disaster. For instance, in my local village (not that big) I know of at least one person who has been killed by the Tsunami. (not personally, I might add, unfortantly the local news love plastering pictures of the dead/missing across it pages).

Satsumi, Matt far am I'm aware your still calling me that today =), doesnt bother me, its the special name you, endor and brow use :).

I think I'll consider some of the options posted above and use one of them =). I quite like Tamisun for some reason =)

Base your nick on real life.

Call yourself "fatty fat cakes".

HO HO.. it's almost true as well =(. I have put on so much weight since working in the UK again, I h8 myself for it. I need to get out of my old routine and find a new way to get to work (that involves walking LOTS of walking).

I was thinking of the Manic Street Preachers song today "Tsunami".
Then I thought "I won't be hearing THAT on the radio for a while".

a visit to tsunami.co.uk sees it as a music label - and they are even providing links to major aid agencies too.
