Hi all.

Having played allegance a little now, i am beginning to acquire a taste for having a try as commander..

(i always did prefer strategy to FPS) anyway, at the moment my home ADSL has gone tits up again..

So, I am stuck at home with 2 pc's on a lan, and wondering how I can start a game on one, join with the other, and then I can practice being a commander (to build etc) before i go live and kill evryone on my team...

Now I remember at I6 there was available the allegance server program, but for some unbeknownest reason it dodnt work, mainly down to incompatible versions,,

Is this still the case, has this been fixed? I could download the program at work, burn it onto cd at wrok, take it home, and then start my own home server, and practice building stuff, (the ingame praccy is a bit limited TBH)

does anyone know a) how i can go about practising at home, without harming anyone
b) when i am practiced, how I get to try it out as a commander on line..

And what sort of connection do I need to set up a server of my own at home..

cheers all

zhardoum there is a server proggie on the allegiance CD, if you install the server + both clients from the same CD then there will be now incompatibilities. Once the server is running, join both computers to the game, and leave on of them alone, play at building/exploring etc on one, and when your tired of the game, go and destroy the opposition http://www.multiplay.org/ubb/smile.gif failing that you could do the Commander training missions.

nah, all the training missions are pants really. Which for a game with such a steep learning curve is a shame.

When you do get your connection back, get in the habit of launching a public server, it'll auto-update it for you so your current version of allegiance will work whenever u decide to 'do it alone' fnerr http://www.multiplay.org/ubb/wink.gif

i'm stuck with one pc so if anyone knows a fix to either launch a one player game or get two 'players' through one machine i'd appreciate it http://www.multiplay.org/ubb/smile.gif

cheers

thanks oysterizer,

Ill try that.

My connection sprang back into life this lunchtime, although it appears to be a little on off at the moment, I am running some tests on it, but it is a little unstable, it certainly isnt 24hr non stop, nore like ten mins, stop, ten mins,, stop, ten mins stop etc, etc

Ill do some more tests tonight,,
