Here's the last bit of information for everyone for the time being - ski passes.

The ski pass is the cheapo crappy French laminated rubbish, not the uber elite swiss / austrian electronic passes of win. This means that you will need a passport photo which you can bring with you, or get there.

They seem to be keen to not replace the lift guardians with machines - I think they french just like queuing.

Prices are as follows:

6 days: €187
7 Days: €213.50

That's the "Espace Killy" (I think) which includes Val D'Isere.

There is no group discount so feel free to buy your pass on your own when you get there for how every many days you'll be on the slopes. I guess most people will be interested in 7 day passes, with the possible exception of the snow trainers who will be able to fit in at least half a day on satuday.

A world of cards are accepted for payment, as is cash but sadly her0n, head isn't.

Update: If you're gagging to get your knees back into the action, then you can use the 4 lifts they have at the bottom of the slopes for free.

That gives you a chance to warm up on Saturday without costing you anything. They're only nursery slopes, but it might be a nice idea anyway.

Forgive me, details escape me. Saturday is our first day there, right? SO we can sort rental, and then have an hour or so on nursery slopes? Sounds good to me.

Hi guys.

I'm not up on what the Ski Pass is actually for ? Does the pass pay for the actual access onto the slopes ?

It's her0n here.

The ski pass basically is your access to the lifts. Obv without the lift access you're not gonna get up the mountain!

When you approach a lift everyone queues up, if its a 2,3,4,5 etc man lift then people usually queue 2,3,4,5 abreast (dependant on how many seats the chairlift has). Usually (9/10 times) the lift attendants will motion to see your lift pass, which you keep around your neck attached to string or a convenient MPUK lanyard :) Or some people keep them om retractable lift pass holders. I don't like these personally as I lost a lift pass when the string snapped as I was skiing along. (luckily it was only a 1 day pass!) Also its normally a good idea to have your pass ready before you a required to show it, in order to prevent congestion.

Hope that helps andyf!

Afty - the trip is Saturday to Saturday so there's enough time to ski for 8 days for the snow train crew. I would advise chilling on eth firts dayy on the nursery slopes and buying a pass until friday. You can see how you feel on the last day and decide late.

Incidentally andyf, in some countries (ie not the cheap scummy ones) you get electronic passes which you wave at a gate which unlocks a turnstyle for you. Much better than showing some frenchy your pass. French are so backwards sometimes ;)
