Basically what type have you gone for?
I know we need Insurence inc winter sports from the 22nd to 30th, but what other options are you planning to go for or have gone for?
MY choice i think is going to be from http://www.cheaptravelinsurance.com/
Im going for the SKI SUPER pack which seams pretty 1337.
IT comes to £32.20 for the duration of the stay, do you think i should pay another £8 to add the "winter activities pack" which lets me do:
Additional Activities covered:
cross country skiing, dog sleighing, ice skating, reindeer train, skidooing, ski skimming, snow mobiling*, snow shoeing, tobogganing, tubing.
* no Personal Liability cover
making my total travel insurence cost £41, what you think?

Depends if you want to do the additional activities, even if you dont want to do them now, you might change your mind when you get out there... I suppose others on the trip could give you some idea on the likelyhood/availablity of the additional events.

We did skidooing last year and it was expensive, but leet.
If you can't afford the £60 or so for skidoos then don't bother because the other stuff we won't do.
If you can afford to skidoo then we may or may not do it depending on availability and laziness, so the extra cost is up to you.

Yea id like to do skidoeing, might as well pay a bit extra for that, its only £8 more to cover me against ACCIDENT, INJURY and DEATH! on what is esentially a big motorbike with a tank trank and some skis, mmmm :)
AND of coruse if we do the ice skating in Paris im insured for that, incase i fall off the top of that big tower :S

Fellow Skitrippers,
I am curious. I am looking on DirectLine's site for Travel Insurance, and have ticked the Winter Sports Cover box, which has bumped my premium up to £46.
On the important information page, it has this to say about the Winter Sports Cover:
Winter Sports Cover: (optional for single trip policies. For annual multi-trips, 22 days cover is automatically included, unless you have opted to purchase a policy without Winter Sports Cover to reduce the premium).
Up to £500 for ski equipment.
Up to £300 for replacement hire (£25 per day).
Up to £250 (£20 per day) for Ski Pass and Fees.
Up to £200 (£20 per day) for Piste Closure.
Up to £200 per person (£20 per day) for Delayed Resort Departure.
Seeing as it's me, can someone confirm that things like "£500 for ski equipment", and "£20 a day for ski pass", is referring to how much I can claim if I LOSE those items, and not how much I can spend if I don't have them?

Whether or not you can claim them if you lose them will be in the small print. Lose anything, and I expect you will need to shell out for it, insurance companies are rarely that nice.
Also, www.insureandgo.co.uk come highly reccomended and MUCH better value than the other guys !

WTF crack are you on andyf! they dont GIVE you money to spend on that shiz! It's how much you can claim back if you lose it (or something happens that prevents you skiing - say they shut all the lifts or whatever) !!!
Go with the Post Office, their policy is only £20 :)

Covers me for on and off piste, up to 17 days this year across multiple trips (handy cos I have another 4 days skiing in Feb)

Because of my mid trip return I effectively have two skiing holidays back to back. May well have to go for a year's cover unless anyone can think of an easy way round this?

Get cover for the week, covers you for that period.
afty

Nope, you *MUST* get the years cover.
Because you are travelling back to the UK it counts as two trips, they *WILL* stiff you on this if they find out in an investigation.

Well lose as in fall over, own yourself, skis go travelling off into the distance ;)

What exactly do they mean then?
afty

Your scenario is plausible I suppose, I would think they mean theft (ONLY when locked) and damage in an accident...

Right finally got my travel insurence sorted, so the important paper works that i need to bring with me now are:
passport
E111
certificate of insurnce
Insurence coverage details
anything else i need?
Ryvita
17th January 2005, 22:07
Make sure you've got your E111 signed and stamped by the PO, and have at least one photocopy of it.
Also, don't we need passport photos for the ski passes?
