Anarchy Online

Just doing my mornign browse I stumbled upon Anarchy Online. What cuaght my eye was that it was completley free for a year.

Has anyone played it ? Is it worth the download etc...?

Free for a YEAR.. I wonder how they will make money out of that. Probably tempt people into buying the world of expansion packs for it, which would cost a fortune prolly.. :X

[edit: Yes, you only get bog standard AO, no expansion packs... (http://www.anarchy-online.com/content/downloads/tryout/) afiak, with normal AO you don't get a great deal of content.. when I tried it I got Notum wars as well, and there wasnt much with that either tbh]

AO is a reasonably good MMORPG.
Well... it's compleate ****e, but for a MMORPG it's not bad :)
I played it for around a week, and had done most 'type' of things in the game. I say most type, because I obviously hadnt done EVERYTHING.
The Missions are (mainly) exactly the same, all that alters is the prefabed rooms alter the way they are put together each time you enter the mission building thing... and you kill a few people, and a boss.. then you get some money or an item. continue until you are level 150, or whatever the cap is :)

The community is fairly good though, but that may just have been the server I was on.

As with all MMORPG's it's just a case of repeating the same actions over and over again, until you get RSI so bad you can't move your fingers ;)


By all means give it a go, but don't expect it to keep you entertained for more than a couple of weeks... and if it does.. you need to get out more ^_~
