I bought a keyboard off of ebay, won the item and then paid for it.

I then emailed the person simply asking when they were going to send the item. To which I received no reply.

I then emailed again to ask why there was no reply. Again.. No reply.

I then used an ebay section to get the contact details got the persons phone number, only issue is they gave a work number and they no longer work there, the email address he supplied was ALSO a work email address. His old workplace have no contact information for this person at all... just wondering really what I should do about this situation?

Contact ebay and they will attempt to draw your funds out of the card details he's given, that usually fails though and ebay will shrug their shoulders and tell you theres nothing they can do and you've lost your money, Unless you paid by credit card then you can contact the credit card company and they can get the money back.

thats exactly why i never buy anything expensive from ebay unless they a powerseller or something with 1000's of + feedback..

but tbh... even then the most exensive thing i have ever got from ebay has been less than £100

Slightly more than that for me, But it was Bugalugs I was buying from so it's not quite the same.

Ebay will try and contact the person for you. The best way to pay for things on ebay is by paypal. I have bought and sold loads of stuff on ebay and only had 1 problem with someone not paying for something.

This worked for me.

I assume you have an address if you sent him a cheque.

When i paid £40 for something i didnt receive, I basically wrote an official letter saying if i didnt get a refund within 7 days, then I would take him to court for the full amount paid + postage + interest + all court costs.

Got a cheque back by special delivery within 3 days, along with some pathetic excuse. Good luck mate, people like that really piss me off.

go to their house asap with a baseball bat providing you sent a cheque to their house.

They will lock the funds from his account, he'll have to either -
1) provide tracking information for the item
2) provide a full refund
or
3) provide proof of a full refund being already given.

Paypal are great when it comes to things like this....... as long as you're the buyer, sellers get the raw end of the stick and so more and more people are refusing to accept paypal. Just file a dispute and you will get the money back, it may take a couple of weeks, but it will happen.
