hi
finalising the layout of the DVD now, just need people's opinions on what's good and whats not good
get THIS (http://www.parachutingtrees.co.uk/poplar/trialepisode4.zip) (14MB) and tell me what you think
if you have seen episode 4 and 5 of poplar street, tell me whether you think this one is better (its two halves of episodes 5 and 4 put together)
http://www.ifiwasnotatpoplarstreet.com for the full episodes 4 and 5 as they stand now - are the first halves of both episodes worth keeping?
I need to know!
feedback much appreciated

Personally i found the "in the field" sketch a bit long winded and boring..
I much prefer the random ramblings and "less scripted" approch.
Also, i think you could benefit from offering a higher quality download.... or at the very minimum, cranking up the audio quality.
Mini intro (just a fade in with title or somthing, no music needed really) and end credits (with url) wouldnt go amiss either.
Would make it a little more professional.
Just my £0.02 :)

thanks for the feedback whiteknight
the ONLY feedback i might add
As for the field sketch being too scripted - it wasnt scripted, it was completely improvised. We found a hill, picked out a couple of costumes from the load we'd taken with us and started the cameras rolling.
We are considering doing a higher quality download for the website however the only purpose of the website was to gether reactions from people so we could decide what to put on the DVD. The DVD is the ultimate goal, which will of course be having full DVD-quality video/audio
Also for this reason we didnt feel any titles/credits were needed as it is all self contained on the DVD, also we quite like it that you appear to be coming in halfway through a conversation a lot of the time
gives it that parachutigntrees style ;)
Thanks alot whiteknight i really appreciate your feedback.
Everyone else - please tell me if you think I should can episodes 4 and 5 and merge them together into that one file you see linked above - i begin Authoring the DVD tonight so i need to know ASAP!
cheers

I liked the field one, well, for abour the first 2 minutes, it was quite long, not got a lot to say bout the ghostbusters one, although I do love the music XD

I prefered the merged version, trail episode..
The chatty bits are good, but wouldnt delivery the punch, and if it doesnt appeal instantly the other bits might not be seen :)

Personaly the Field sketch appealed to me, from the start right to the end, ghostbusters could have done with a bit more production but the idea was sound.
You're a pair of geniuses.

Field sketch bored me somewhat, I could see where you were going with it though, just needs alittle more work.
But the ghostbuster feature was superb! Great comedy, laughed alittle at the Rush, wait for the car to be unlocked.... Rush again part :)

All great comments thanks guys
I have come up with a solution
Living in the joyous age of DVD im going to put a feature on the menu to either "watch full episode" or "skip to Ghostbusters Sketch" or whatever - dont you just love Chapter selection :D
And Alex - feedback on Friday is great but i will have already *made* it by then  this is why i was stressing the urgency :p:
And yeah i wish i could put much more production time into all of these with more resources etc.
The Ghostbusters idea was a case of "hey that's a good idea..." we made the packs and went out and did it straight away, didnt have time to go back and re-do things or whatever. And the field sketch it was getting dark, it was our last day of filming, we'd gone through a number of out-takes (with it being improvised I kept making Phil laugh by changing what I was saying each time, and vice versa! I'll probably put the out-takes on the DVD if i can fit it on!) and so that was our last shot at it (10 minutes later heavy fog descended on us anyway so it was lucky we got that tbh)
The idea is to show potential employers wour style, and what we can do with literally just two cameras and stuff we found round the house, and try and convince them if they were to pay us to do it and give us a budget/professional film crew then we might achieve some nice results
but again - thank so much for the feedback guys, it's helped me make a few vital decisions for what is basically 3 months work and my shot at starting a new career.
:D

im glad you left in the whole field sketch personly its one of fave things you ever done, along with /diversion.htm :p
i find it funny considering i often have city vs country arguments, and living in the country i found phils role very funny indeed, infact i've often found my self quoting the "custard" line.
