im trying to setup a wireless network from wanadoo broadband (not my home, or choice of isp)
been out and purchased a wireless router trouble is i didnt realise the broadband modem was going to be usb
is there anyway around this and what else will i need to make sure all laptops share the internet connection they will all be in seperate rooms
do i need to buy network pci cards and recievers?

First is it a ADSL modem router, or just a router?
Second you need wireless cards in the devices that you want to recieve wireless networking

its a router as my connection is not adsl i believe could be wrong but there are 3 latops and i've had a look around some shops and could buy a router with built in modem to replace the modem i have now but i dont know if my connection is adsl or not just not sure

quick way, how do you currently connect to the internet with that account?

yes my account is adsl wandadoo, im networking 3 notebooks from a wireless router which will replace the current modem
im armed with most of the facts but im not sure if this laptop has the wireless network card its a brand new vaio
what am i looking for in device manager
i have PCMCIA adapters
generic cardbus controller
and PCMCIA and flash memory devices
intergrated flash media controller
not sure if a wireless network card is there or not
also in network adapters
1394 net adapter
reltek ethernet nic
speedtouch usb adsl ppp
??????????????????????

have you got a vaio model number?
failing that wireless cards have come down in price lots recently

PCG-9S2M is the model number
the cards ive got are wireless belkin 802.11g
the modem is adsl wireless-g router
all im getting is two flashing lights

hmm it seems my wireless connection is running all the lights are ok just the "handshake" mode is on where as it flashes constant
i have no idea what to do next how to set up my adsl connection to work in the router settings via http i can acess the adsl config
and it seems to have picked it up yet i cannot get the internet page up and running
please help im going bald at an unprecidented level and im having loads of big vocabulary outburts

do i have to set myself an ip address?
or will the router configure this from adsl connection... and do i need to sign in to my account even tho it wont let me do this as it says the modem is in use blah blah
something seems to keep stopping me
help help
