Upgraded phone through Orange sometime Tuesday or Wednesday. Decided to get it delivered to home address in Blackpool because I will be back there Fri/Sat.

Noticed a slight decline in text message response wednesday night or something. Noticed delivery reports stayed on Pending but knew that messages did seem to be getting sent. Couldn't send to self. Guys at flat couldn't text me. Figured Manx Telecom are up the spout.

Went out to celebrate someone's leaving do, still unable to get replies back from anyone despite sending out a few more messages. Got home, had an epiphany (well maybe just a minor revelation) at 1.13am and realised the new phone/Sim, being an upgrade and keeping new number, will now be the target of incoming texts.

And phone calls too, as I just confirmed. So nice to hear that voicemail which I forgot to change (no, NOT the WCG voicemail!!) blurting out of the speaker at me. This would explain the slight lack of contact I've had with a few key people, number one being the person picking me up from the airport tonight (oops) who hopefully has found the arrival time by her own means and will be waiting for me as I stroll out of the arrival gate.

But hey, it's a nice walk back from the airport if she's not there :s

I'm on the island, I don't think the payphones work unless you insert keys to your house into them first.

Don't you have phones at work? Or use a mates phone for 2 mins?

Its an island. You know, a phone rings and they have to call the voodoo man out to answer it.

And horseless carriages... what?!

There's been some interesting developments to this story ..

it wasn't the new phone that did it. It was manx ****ing telecom being awesomely incompetent. As soon as I turned the phone on after exiting blackpool airport, everything just worked again.

Oh and I seem to have had a free flight because of it ...
