Oi you shower of bastards, do any of you lot even play this game? :)

I've been playing almost solidly since I got it, and omg how hard is it to actually win the full campaign? Hopefully with the Marian Reform troops I now have I can make some progress, but my citizens have a nasty habit of revolting.

Egypt next. I'm going to get me some pyramids :D

Does seem very very good (shame about multiplayer not having the strategy interface) and I was playing it quite alot last Weds/Thurs - up to about 18 territories now I think with a couple of promising young generals (7 star general at 21, anyone?) but running out of cash to spend on the really nice upgrades... to busy churning out men :)

ive got......spain, france, germany, england, the top half of the balkans, corsica, ibiza, crete and the top of italy.

the senate are all bastards

by faction leader is called "publius the mad"
one of his attributes is painting his arse purple and wearing goats bladders"

whats your best victory so far? i killed a briton army of 2000 (2x1000 man armys) and lost about 120 troops - yay for legionary cavalry

also - pikemen are the hardest bastards to kill unless your packing plenty of archers - damned phalanx's

i think the best cities to capture early are corduba and carthage - both very big cities which can make you a truck load of money and get you up the tech tree really fast.

I've got my grubby little hands on almost all of western europe now. Only Britain, half of Germany and half of Spain are still to be beaten, and the Spaniards are about to feel an evil beatdown :)

I've got a foothold in North Africa at Carthage, and I'm wandering Egyptwards. A random landing in Turkey led to a mini invasion and 2 wonders, so that was most handy.

Now, anyone for multiplayer? I've had the idea of somehow shoehorning a web based campaign frontend in for individual battles fought ingame, but I wouldn't know where to start. Only that it'd be great :D

I don't have this game... but it sounds pretty mad.

I've taken Europe (incl UK, Crete and Sardinia), the balkans (eliminating Dacia and Thrace), and have three territories in Africa.
I was the Julii, so I've not tried to capture the Western mediterranean at all - just too far away!

The distance from capital penalty seems to force you to turn in eventually - capturing more of Africa or going after Russia with a capital in Marseilles would be pointless, and you need to keep somewhat close to your early cities with their 25000+ population, and ability to turn out the really big units post Martius.

I'll probably march on Rome tonight - the people love me enough now - just need some siege weapons or bad-ass spies.

This really is an amazing game (but a huge time sink) - looking forward to some multiplayer at i22, but I've been concentrating on the strategy (as I did in medaevil tw) so I'll probably get whipped :(

Just marching on Rome doesn't win you the game remember, so get working on those long distance regions :) Need 50 of them to win it. However owning Wonders works... wonders :D
