View Full Version : When 5 just isn't enough

What I've got:

9 Network devices - 7 PCs, 1 print server, router and PCs. (possibly 10 soon)
8 Static IPs (so only 5 useable)
Netgear DG834G

What I want to do:

Have at least five PCs on 'real' static, routeable IPs. These ones need internet access. Everything else on Private Class C addresses (192.168.0.0).

Now, as far as I am aware, this is perfectly feasible, but how do I go about setting it up? The DG834G gives static routes to destination routes, so I'm assuming it can't do this all on its own? I will presumeably need another router to handle the private range? Any suggestions? I had a play with static routes and that didn't do anything useful.

Well, the solution was rediculously easy;

I just added a private AND public address to the TCP/IP settings on all the PCs, and it can now see both.

It works, so meh :)
