Yo!

Bored at work today so finally got around to setting up my GPRS on the mobile I have had for about 6months (hey so I'm lazy!)

So it connects and stuff after a little tweaking and getting vodafone to add an Internet APN to my account 'oh we must have forgot to do it when we registered your sim.'

So it connects at 115.65Kbps. My question is, is that the speed between the laptop and the phone (speed of the bluetooth link) or the actual internet connection. it seems about as fast as when I used to have ISDN in the dark ages.

So what is the actual speed of GPRS and stuff?

Someone with a little more knowledge than me plz inform me.

Cheers

iirc thats the actual speed of gprs

its a nippy little technology - although you never actually get that sort of data speed

yeah but thats only if you static, and sat under the antenna, but still modem speeds is more than enough for email and websurfing.

My big criticisum is that where people would use this the most, on the train, reception appears to be horrible.

My question is, is that the speed between the laptop and the phone (speed of the bluetooth link) or the actual internet connection. it seems about as fast as when I used to have ISDN in the dark ages. That's the traditional baud rate of a 56K modem, ie the speed with which it's communicating with the PC.
