Loha lil bit of help plz :]
I've got a my new funky file server up and running on a network at work, it gets its connection from our router and thats all fine
I've just shoved in an adsl modem in it for now and i'd like to use that connection AND the adsl connection from the router at the same time to combine to act like a single 2mb line.
Don't worry, i have 2 actual adsl lines and 2 seperate adsl accounts, one is a secondary test line at work, both 1mb.

So how do i fool the machine into thinking that its got a single faster connection?

Its a win2k3 enterprise server and each adsl line has a diff account and ip, both fixed.
Ideas?

you cant unless your router/modem supports multiple lines.

Nildram offer such a service...

but i don't have either the money to get a diff router, or infact a diff router....
so, how can i get around such a problem?
I mean, i can connect to the adsl on the server fine and i can be on the internet connection supplied from my router at the same time fine, but it acts as if they are one connection and so each program accessing the internet uses one or the other, and not both.

i have a job, this is at work where i'm setting it up
If it were for me at home then i would pay for it myself, but this is at work so i would have to use the money pot and get the boss to sign it off that i could use another router for the task, which is why i don't have the money

But, i'm sure there is still some way i can abuse the server to think that its got a single connection or at least let it act as if its connections avaliable are being used as one.

hmmmm!

You could do it software based, like you wanted it too. Multi-mode is what you need. What you'll need to do is turn your machine into a router, 2 seperate dial accounts, if you have 2k3 AS then you can do it with network bandwidth balancing I think. Or, if you're the *nix kind, then most ppp* clients should do the trick. I recomend MPd for FreeBSD. Quite a handly little devil.

Also, there does happen to be a TechZone on these forums, and a seperate forum for net related problems, please do bear that in mind in the future.

Theres a reason to get Cable (I'm on NTL)... "Always on" - properly. No dialling from the pc required.

Of course if Sainteh had a cable account he could just up the bandwidth of the incoming connection.

if i am not going mad you can do it with the use of a proxy server, i am sure that e-smith can do it Link (http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=13)
you have both lines going into the machine, then one into the network, they connect to the internal proxy.

i have tryed it with isdn and that worked so i think it might work, e-smith does no need alot of space and CPU so any system will do

hope this helps
