Unless someone makes an amazing mod, I don't think I'll ever buy it.

Pre-ordered it from Play months ago.
Played it last week.
Didn't bother finishing it.
Cancelled pre-order.
What a $hite game on a mediocre engine (in comparison to Far Cry and UT2004)!

You're entitled to say you don't like the game, but you can hardly call it a mediocre engine. There's nothing else that comes close to many features of the engine available atm.

Nope... I would call it mediocre, despite the rave reviews it seems to be getting everywhere on the net!
Compared to Far Cry and UT2004 I really don't think it rates very highly. This is just going on my impressions from having played all three... not from comparing some technical features list... and the other two titles pi$$ all over Doom3, IMHO! Nothing about the Doom3 graphics engine has made me go 'wow'... but I remember being gobsmacked the first time I walked outside in Far Cry! And this is on a 3GHz P4 / 1Gb RAM / 128Mb 9800Pro - which can manage 1024x768 at High Quality, just... although the auto-detect suggests I drop down to 800x600@Medium quality, FFS!
Have you played it yet? If not, wait until you have and can compare it... don't believe the hype!
I'm not just id bashing... I've owned all of their titles and expansion packs from Wolfenstein up to Quake 3 Arena and would have owned Doom3, too, if the readily available download hadn't opened my eyes!

FarCry is indeed a gorgeous looking game, but the lighting / shadowing and the sound don't come anywhere near Doom3.
They've also demonstrated that the Doom3 engine is capable of a colossal amount of interaction with the user in terms of the environment, things that you can move / do stuff with. You don't get that in FarCry. The physics aspect of Doom3 again feels much superior to FarCry, with the amount the environment around you is affected by what you do to it.
I've also heard (although I have no experience) that CryEngine is very bug ridden. I guess time will tell if Doom3 is the same.
I have to say I was very impressed by it.
