6v6 will make getting a team too hard imo. 5v5 is just large enough for a few peeps from a clan + freelancers to make 5.

Larger teams also = less chance of triggering prize money.

time limit per half is a bit of an odd rule... :S isnt it just normaly like

6v6 S+D
3 min rounds
10 rounds each side
2 maps
1 sniper
no panzer/fg

thats a max of 2 hours though (which i know is quite long). 20 mins per half will just mean teams rush all the time to win as many rounds as possible in the shortest ammount of time in the hope the other team does the same and they dont win any... imo thats hardly realistic and would spoil the tourny. without a time limit for the half you can at least take your time and do decent teamwork.
the only way you could make that work is 20 min half's and 10 rounds. but then... you would jsut get one of the teams camping on the second half to let the timer run out so the other team has less chance of winning because there isnt enough time to play all 10 rounds... which is a bit lame.

TDM is just running around shooting. boring and tacticless. HQ is more interesting but the spawning in it is **** and its always a pain in the ass when you have to run the entire map to get 0wned by a camper and then when u finaly get a radio position they spawn ontop of it.

5v5
2 maps
10 rounds eache side (40 in total)
1 sniper
no panzer/fg
3 or 4 minute rounds

standard rules really but they work well in clanwars so why not use them in the i21 tourney :D

That sounds great tbh- would mean it was won on ability for one team to kill the other rather than the ability to sit still for 2:50 then move for the last 10 seconds.

would mean it was won on ability for one team to kill the other Thats called TDM

All the teams i've played dont sit still for 2:30 then rush. that is as boring to do as it is to defent against. I'm in a clan that plays for fun. if we win its a bonus (we dont win that often) and if clans just rush all the time it gets very boring. and personaly i prefer some realism. not ww1 "throw everyone forward all the time and home someone makes it through" (which incase you didnt notice didnt work in ww1 ether)

At i19 they used some odd rules (dont remember them) but what i do remember is they were a bit odd and nobody had played them before. just use clanbase rules (someone said them above)

I just dont wanna play in what i saw at i19- I spectated the final with Barney and it was boring in the extreme.

I wouldnt necessarily call obj play with people moving TDM. The best games are always the ones where you are moving around doing great shots and being lucky- I get no excitement from sitting in a corner until someone walks past me and putting two bullets in them.

With teamwork when your defending you dont just sit in the same place all map. i think your being a bit short sighted.

doing great shots and being lucky doesnt make you a team player in my book. makes you a risk taker which gets you killed leaving your team one man down :)

we can sort all those kind of rules like 1 sniper limit etc using the project ares mod (PAM).

we can set it to 20 max rounds, 11 max rounds and so on.

What i've found best for the majority of tournaments is round limit 11 played on one map, both sides.

Only thing i would be thinking of is the team size. 6on6 means lesser money for each person, and lesser team which may result in the prize trigger not being met.
or
using a 5on5 meaing a harder and more interesting game, along with more teams, more money for each player in the winning teams, and more chance of the prize trigger meeting its target.

tbh i would go with 5on5.

I say first to 5 rounds, as this gives the possibility of up to 9 rounds, and also maps that dont last 2 hours each :P. Also 2 maps per game, and roundtime of 4 mins. That should do it

I'd like to point out that one match at i20 lasted for over 5 hours :) My poor brain hurt afterwards!

As far as rules go, I'd keep the usual round limits etc, but make it one map per match. The only reason CB uses 2 maps is so that each team can pick a map of their choice. As this is a tourney the maps will be fixed, so one map per match seems reasonable.

No post for a while sorry guys been on hols...anyway the format has already been decided as a 5v5. I think for the sake of mine and everyone else's sanity that cb rules should be played, with PAM mod being used to limit the sniper and panzer etc. Ideas/thoughts/rants plz.
/edit as for maps and numbers of maps it really depends on the amount of people signed up for the tourney. If we have a large number of ppl signed up then one map I think would be sufficient otherwse matches will be lasting for hours. I particularly dont want to be admining matches till 11pm ;)

i would like to see maps being chosen by clans. many clans have one if not 2 home maps. where they think they play best. I know our clan does. Ok our clan would end up playing the same map 4 or 5 times maybe but it would give us more chance of winning. that would mean 2 maps being played and 2 hours of gameplay

Aardvark

The idea is to be good at all the maps, so I don't think you should have a choice. Vote for the maps beforehand as usual, then the overall most popular ones get used.

we are good at all maps. the fact is most clans concentrate and play one or 2 maps more than others. Be this a obscure map they have nailed the tactics on or they just prefer the map. most clanbase games are dawn/carra ok it gets boring. our clan can play those maps fine. but we prefer others for veriety... and we practiced them :)
