Are there still UT admins around?

Reason i'm asking is i'm just back from a house fire and logged into the servers last night and boy has it got lame around here lol

So im wondering if the UT admins are still around or all moved over to 2k4?

Hmm k im a freequent player on multiplay.co.uk ictf ethernal/gaunt and i love the server but theres 1 minor there is been a lot of laming these days / mounths by some players (for instance a guy/girl namend eh ) and i want 2 ask if you can do something bout that.... is there any admin around to bann a few (because there bout 6 or 7 freequent players who lame a lot)

Laming behind the flag in caves Red
Lamin infront of the flag on blue sittiing on the ledges next to the slope to the flag or on the invisible but sides of the entry to the blue base

Nothing actually worng with defending behind the flag on red as long as it isnt just camping up the cliff to wrack up the flag kills.

some good news - for some anyways.

I tortured Azazel into letting me have the admin pass for the mp uk ut servers.
so I will be patrolling round the CTF servers as well as playing.

players triggering or blocking the lift on Gaunt will be warned then kicked if repeated and as a last resort banned.
Caves spawn killers from the belt area will just be banned - simple as that.

I don't view behind flag defence as a kickable offence so if see me about and hassle me to kick defenders from there you'll be disappointed.
True it is frustrating but teams with good planning can overcome it - just as they can in blue base.

as for the face only server - it's pretty much anything goes - except piston portal camping and spawn killing. Piston antics around portals will be an immediate ban - whereas spawn killing will be warn/kick/ban on ignored requests to stop.

any kind of spawn killing is lame and cowardly and for the most part does nothing to help the game along.

I will not warn for flag lifting, boosting, tele punting or flag dropping - hell if you and a mate manage to get it together for a rocket boost across face for a fast cap, I'll bloody well applaud you! :D

aimbotters will of course be banned on sight.
oh and just because you think they are botting doesn't necessarily make it so - I will endeavour to suss if they actually are true botters but even the most experienced admin can't always tell.

I can't be on 24/7 but I am playing most nights and so will drop into the mp uk ut servers from time to time.
you can grab me in #12m - me nick is usually bd||mirc.
Bout time we got the servers back from the llamas don't y'all think? ;)


I notice the caves/gaunt server is very popular whilst the other iCTF server sits idle all night...is there any combo of maps that people would like?

Nice one BD on the promotion.

As for boosting its maybe just ok on the nw servers as you can tl to catch them up again but in the iCTF server it shouldn't be allowed. As someone boosting on gaunt at the top can get the fc home before anyone can respawn and even begin to give chase.

As to other maps Niven is fun to play if a nightmare to cap on at times, Lucius is a good map, November LE map isnt too bad with the matching bases there are other good maps but as i havent played for a few months the names now escape me lol. Will add more when i remember them.

it's been almost fun doing admin work on the MPUK servers...

one player dared me to kickban after I kicked him for piston camping on Face - so his wish was granted.

another (iCTF) went on and on and on and on and on and on and on about another player being a bot and I was speccing the guy for most of the game and nothing but ownage play.
the guys ping was 28 and it was roughly half of the other players on the server - pretty obvious that was the reason for his better play - he said he wasn't in a clan but used to be in SWE.
the original whiner came back in as a spec and continued to abuse the ex SWE player and then myself so he got a kickban too.

I warned some players about triggering the lift on Gaunt and they got kicks for continuing.

caves has had the least problems as far as spoiling tactics are concerned and the DM deck only is stuffed fulla extremely skilled players and no llamas that I saw.

I haven't seen any lag on the MPUK UT servers that I have been looking over - unlike some other GSP's public servers which are frankly awful.

with kicks, I will try and warn players for doing silly and un-necessary things and if you are kicked, coming back have a go at me will result inna ban :)

so far I have had cause to kick/ban only 1 bot.

All sounds good their BullDog. I tend to be on the face server most nights ( yes total face hoe :P ) and its a no ****, warn + continue ban and not just single ip ban but entire class C. This may well get some legit players but helps significantly in keeping the server clean :)

keep and eye out for this tit will ya, alternatively give me the admin pass so I can get the botters too.

not a bad idea that - will ask - I don't frequent the deck server that much (tired of being owned and told that I have been so) whereas you are on there quite a bit.

Is it possible in any way for the users to get the attention of admins by typing !admin / !help or something similar that would trigger and runs a big window flashing with our nick on the admins screen? Any chance? :B

Whether you type it in #mpukunreal or do /omsg or /onotice or do !admin (which in effect would just do an onotice) the admins will respond when there is one avail to respond.

Mapvote was on for 1-2 days azazel. When it didn't work I told it to Neophyte. Got told you must have done it for a reason so he didnt put it on again. It sounded logical as you had the !admin cmd going the following days.

!admin command is experimental at this point in time, im still looking at the infrastructure and hope to improve things very soon. Please bear in mind myself and azazel are very busy doing various roles for multiplay and apologise for not devoting 100% of our time to UT. All should be sorted though very shortly :)
