[If you haven't read the original thread, you might want to take a look at: http://forums.multiplay.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24778&highlight=123reg]

I've just noticed that the new 'bint' off http://www.123-reg.co.uk is now also on the front of http://www.belkin.com - obviously getting around a bit.

Who said blondes always have more fun

what are good image vendors?

Afty
30th June 2004, 10:56
Tony Stone, Corbis.com, stockbyte etc.

If it's for a non profit project, you may be horrified by how much stock photography costs per pic...

I wonder, if we posed like one of the models on Belkin.com and took a photo, would they put it on their website in place of the original? I'm sure I could do a better job, I mean how unconvincing does this guy look:

http://www.belkin.com/graphics/solutions_partner.jpg

Mark, i21, you know it must be done. We should each pick a company and see who is successful, we can get the whole clan in on that one. :)

Afty
30th June 2004, 11:08
That sounds like a very interesting challenge actually, but it's worth bearing in mind the guy on the photograph is a male model... and not many of us are. It's not necessarily about how convincing you look, it's how sexy/cool. Male models are given money for looking sexy/cool whereas we're in the social group that is perhaps most associated with the anti-cool...

Since it's on the ATI site... perhaps they mean to suggest that the produced graphics are stable on their products?

Advanced - that has to be good right?
Visual - it's something to do with your sight? yep
Stability - everyone wants that, right?

:)

Are you lot sure this is a different woman?

Compare

http://mirror.ati.com/images/headers/customercare/customer_care_index.jpg

with

http://www.sis.com/support/learn/techarticle/images/pcie_ban.jpg

To me, though there are differences, prolly due to lighting, camera angle, quality, hair colour etc, compare the features, like nose, ears, general facial structure etc, and I'd consider these two images to be of the same woman.

The bottom one seems newer, so could simply be an update of the old one, which would account for the changes in hair colour etc ...

actually, i agree. whoever let the first one onto the image bank should be shot, she looks waaay nicer in the second one. much better lighting

I`d sugest that the second image is just a different camera angle, stance and lighting of the same foto-shoot.

You still have the same hair style, the same clothing, the same facial orientation, and the same laptop.

If you were to see the whole image i`m sure the goldfish bowl would be there too. In fact.. now that i look at it... look at the bit under the words "the PCI Express era". Doesn that look like a glass bowl or somthing ?

Also compare the bit behind her right hand. The deformations or whatever in the window behind her.

</forensic scientist>

PS: The girl on this site http://www.ittw.net/ is also the same one, and oh look, theres the goldfish bowl :)

Zenith

And it was Colonel Mustard.
Colonel Mustard did it in the living room with the candlestick.

This whole thread about a sodding picture is like Cluedo though. :)

Nivek

i think they (photo studeo) set up the shot then different models poised there, leading to similar pictures being produced with the same background but with different people

Mingtea
23rd November 2004, 18:06
yeah this is how it works.

Photographer (or studio) hires a model, some props, and a goldfish....

They take lots of pictures, and make money for them.

Simple......
