This is IRC spillage. I'll say here what I said there:<Moredhel> awfull awfull software. psp users should stick to cutting their townie exes out of photos and leave proper image editing to photoshop users.

Mingtea

yeah but you're too cheap to even get your foot in the door.

It's like the presidential suite at hotels, you don't know who stopped there until you pay the money and stop there yourself ;)

you just get thrown out in the lobby however.

Tom

As I informed you at a DreamLan cabe, the only good functions in PSP are "New" and "Close without saving".

That is all.

Until CS came along I would have agreed with you - I hated PS7. I thought it was probably time I caught up when CS came out, and I really like it now.

Cheez
30th June 2004, 08:30
I still prefer 7 to CS. But CS has grown on me.

Mingtea
30th June 2004, 09:08
I do prefer CS over 7, I don't know how you can use 5.5, that'd kill me.

MaddyPaulus
30th June 2004, 10:07
PSP for me, used it since PSP4.

It's what you're used to I guess, PSP does everything that I need to do. :)

But if the rest of you are happy to £400 for photshop, that's fine by me. ;)

Elbonio

i use both - PSP for some editing

then i migfht do a bit more in PS but i always save for web in photoshop as its compression is second to none

Say what now, Chris? ;)

I myself am a Photoshop fan. I actually began my image editing days on Deluxe Paint III, then Paintshop Pro back in the days of Windows 3.11. When I first tried Photoshop I got scared and cried lots, but now I can't really use anything but. It is truely the dogs doodahs.

When we got photoshop, we were asked if we wanted the £50 licences or the £70 licences that let us run a copy at home as well. :) Naturally we chose the £70 licences.

PSP. As I can do everything I need to do 10x quicker than PS.

You're very narrow minded if you think either is the be all and end all tbh.

Ah well I'll just let Tom bin the #cats site design done wholey in PSP then? :)

This one is done ENTIRELY in photoshop:

I'd like to see PSP even attempt something like that.

Mingtea

well, a quick browse through deviant art shows some impressive stuff.

Photoshop if you have skillz and time to get your head around it. It's a powerful piece of kit which has few rivals... PSP is on the other hand an easy to use piece of software, not too many features, but then again cheap and fast.

I use Photoshop CS, before that 6 and 7. PS 7 was not too bad, but CS beats it hands down. Although I do somehow get the feeling that Adobe are slowly making PS and Illustrator one package.

And, a student licence of Photoshop is only something like $80. So its not that much more expensive... not that many people here actually buy it... nor PSP for that matter

* strokes official licence to CS CE

This also made entirely in photoshop, there's even a tutorial!

I wouldn't say the load time is particularly long? Cabe clearly needs a new PC ;)

And the interface imo is perfect, nothing i'd change on it that I can think of.

Just a case of preference, but the fact is that PS is the "professional" product, as that's what all the pro's ask for, and also why they can sell it for so much money, NO-ONE in their right mind would pay loads for PSP, when they can get PS for a similar price, that's why PSP is cheap as chips.

In Soviet Russia, software buys you!

Seriously though, I think the software is irellevant. A good artist will be able to produce something good with practically any tool. PSP is perfectly capable of producing excellent imagery.

I still prefer Photoshop though.

Thing I find funniest is how people think just because they know how to draw a load of random lines, blur it lots and bung a few random 'technical' words in, and you've got a deviantart submission.

By here, I meant the Forum, but, to educate you, official licencing is taking hold in Russia, if you don't pay someone in time (usualy a face that has nothing to do with licencing), then the police will come and carry out an investigation.

Unfortunately in Russia you cannot exist as a fully legal company for too long, as backwards financial policies and laws, aswell as the not so carefully planned construction and maintenance industries, do stop efficient workflow from time to time. Financial policies change daily, planed maintenance is a myth and Russian maffia is a legal firm practising extreme lawsuits.

Getting a licence here is simple, they give it away practically. If you want warez in Russia, you walk into a shop. For example; M$ Visual Studion .NET Full Version 2003 costs roughly $2.
