shame most people who want the game already have it isn't it :)

this would be like ATI doing their Half-Life 2 promotion after the game was released (circa 2009)

is it the enhanced 64bit version of far cry or the shoddy 32 bit version we're all trying to play though? thats the question.

what exactly was shoddy about the 32-bit version that the 64-bit one will alleviate?

Perhaps they made the 64bit version last longer than 2 seconds?

surely the faster processor would mean it is shorter...

well whats better in the 64bit version is that the game was intended to be a 64bit app to begin with and the 32bit version is wriddled with issues ranging from being unable to play it at all to it constantly crashing and or slowing down horribly even on good hardware....that explanation enough?

But the only thing 64 bit gives you is better memory addressing...

is this offer on the new 753, 939 Chips or old 754,940 Chips?

the game has been in development for 3-4 years... 64 bit computing has only been a personal/desktop reality for the past year...

i think you'll find the 'problems' with the 32-bit versions stems from the fact that a lot of people have ****ty configured computers... the game seems to cope perfectly fine on my Barton 2500XP w. Radeon 9600...

please get a clue ;)

Actually. Personal desktops running on 64bit sparc or alpha chips have been around for years. Sun don't only make servers. :)

good for you...and fyi far cry is the only game I own that doesn't "perform" and it's nearly always due to a bug in the game itself rather than anything improperly configured on my machine thankyou very much :)

and kahless, I understand where you are coming from...
but how does will the 64-bit version fix any problems, short of just throwing so much processor power at it that the performance problems are fixed... what 'bugs' you are experiencing will probably still be there...

you just get a flat 60+ fps and 10 second load times...

IMHO Farcry is a great game single player, MP is another matter.

But, farcry has its faults, Specifically some of the Aircraft carrier missions are churning slowly, as are quite a few others, but the carrier is the best example I can think of. Plays fine before that level, plays fine after that level, but there is one spot where you walk into a room, and the pc just goes into snail mode.

PC spec :

PIV 3.06
1GB 400Mhz Ram
Sata HD
ASUS P4P800 Delux MainBoard
GeForce 5 5600 (256MB)

With patch 1.1 installed, same issue on 10 plus pcs..

That's because of the low end graphics card. :)

Khaless. I have an Athlon64. I've used the 64bit patch for far cry (still a beta but i doubt it makes much difference), It doesn't perform any better at all than it did under 32bit. :)
