Sorry but I just couldn't resist posting ... but at least I kept it civil ... the other threads spawned off this turned very nasty very quickly and I felt compelled to report two posts by the same person in different threads to the moderators, this is the first and only time I have every had to do this, hopefully I will never have to again!

I just find it hard to belive that there all so fing stupid

thats a thought
but...
i dunno how long they'd been customers
and how would they create such high pings?
and it seems a bit of a long winded way of doing it
and they are doing it in the wrong place - 90% of the people who use these boards are multiplay die hards anyway
and also it isnt necessarily negative - it showed mpuk staff doing their upmost to help a customer who were all being pains in the arse. If anything i think it commended the professionalism of multiplay for not flying off the handle at them
but i do see what you mean, despite the amount of "and's" i used there...

Tbh, that sort of clientelle, Gameservers.net can be happy to have em. MPUK shouldn't lower their standards, and I quote:

I really can't abide people who try to complain like this using broken, "l33t" , and often completely incomprehensible english that makes little or no sense. They then wonder why you were unable to fix their problem. Argh !
A few spelling errors and typos you can live with, but blatent disregard for grammar is just horrible.
If you have problems with a product, use clear and concise ENGLISH (or whichever language is native to the products supplier). Please dont post messages like "OMG WTF THIS SHIZ DONT WRK DUDE!!!!!!!!!!1111111oneoneone".
Secondly bullet point your problems to make them clear as to where they seperate.
* Problem one: This thing is not working.
* Problem two: Something else also doesnt work.
And thirdly ensure you give AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE.
There's nothing worse, from a support point of view, than trying to solve a problem with little or nothing to go on.

A few spelling mistakes are ok, as long as it makes sense.
My post obviously made sense as you took such pride in ripping it to shreds; however, in my defense I will say that this keyboard is ****, so some of my typos are a result of bad hardware.
Can`t, there`s, and, & something are all typos down to this keyboard.
I knew I`d mis-spell incomprehensible... Should have checked it :(

Also, my point is still very valid, if you start trying to correct a customer, asking "did you mean this" or "are you really talking about this problem" they have a tendancy to get very sh!tty about it very quickly.
If you make your point clear and understandable from the off, there is no confusion.
But yes, Devvy, you are a c*nt. :D

Dyslexia is a reason, not an excuse. It doesn't make what you write any less unintelligible for most people.
WhiteKnight
23rd April 2004, 17:21
I dont know the details about dyslexia i must admit, so i`ll strike that from my first comment; however, regardless of any mental disability you might have (CS kiddy, and coprolalia Tourett`s included :D ) , if you are unable to make a clear and concise complaint you will always have problems getting a resolution. It will frustrate both you and the support agent who is trying to help you, ultimatly resulting in a poor result for you.

I just got sick to death of reading "Please get on IRC so we can discuss this. Posting every so many hours on forums doesn't work." I'm sorry, but just how hard can it be for them to get on IRC? It's clearly their own fault. If they don't give MPUK anything to go on, or any help in resolving the issues, then they won't get anything fixed. And I refuse to believe they were as old as they claimed. I like to think someone so old would realise they were going about it the wrong way. My seven year old cousin would have.

could some please translate some of the posts from that thread for me? (it took me 3 or 4 attempts to read some of them;))
from what i read mpuk were doing pretty much everything possible to try and solve the problem, but the clan members were mainly just complaining and not actually assisting in even a basic manner when it came to reasonable request like "tell us on IRC when it's happening".
I can understand how annoying it is to have problems with an online game/service that you can't sort out.
But there are three basic rules that from what i can see were not followed by the clan in question.
1: Make yourself as clear as possible when asking for help and supplying information.
2: If the people trying to solve your problem ask you for information or to do something in order to catch the problem in progress or rule something out, you do it.
3: Try and stay polite.

i know if i ever got a game server, it would be with MPUK, mainly because i trust the service, and if anything went wrong i could rely on them to do there best to fix the problem.

This reminds me of the time the power went off and all the servers died. The admins were getting pissed off telling every new person that came in that the power was down (I chipped in and told new people as well at one point)
It was going as smooth as possible until this:
[20:25] <x3rv> OI YOU ****ING RUNTS
[20:25] <x3rv> GET OUR SERVER UP
Lyn eventually had to put the channel on to +m to keep this guy and others like him quiet :(

Just a small comment, and I am sure there is a good answer.
Did a MPUk staffer try and connect to the server during a busy time from a home location and see from the customers viewpoint the issue..?
Maybe asking for them to record a 2 min demo file and emailing it to you..
T.B.H. it does look like MPUK did what you could, and its easy for me in hindsight to nitpick, but I would have thought someone not at MPUK towers connecting from home, and playing as them would have identified if there was a problem or not..
..although t.b.h. it did seem like a group of 13 year olds who had overspent on pocket money and trying to get a refund..
Not picking on M.P.U.K. just stating with hindsight something that could have been done.. maybe it was...
It was mentioned in the thread that MPUK admins had been on the box when it was nearly full of public people a couple times, and that they, nor any of the other public playing, were experiencing problems.

ty, must have missed that, although I had read the thread in its entirety, just wasn't sure if the mpuk peeps were connecting from MPUK towers oir from home.
Glad to see you didnt misunderstand me, wasn't being picky, just asking a question I didn't see covered.
thx-
