I saw photos on T.V I hope pictures like this will spread around so that people will start thinking with their conscious instead of their greed. I also heard that the Americans administration is afraid of such pictures being spread around and anti-war resentiment might rise again. I'm fully aware that many innocent Iraqi civilians are being injured and killed by US bombs, and that's horrific. Honestly, thoughts like this plague me every day... I do not consider myself truly pro- or anti-war, but that does not make me indifferent.
I would advise anyone in here especially young and sensitive members if you go to these sites, are aware you are going to see dead people of both sides.

It's already on the rise again - but not due to the number of Iraqi civilian deaths, most people couldn't care less about them, so the administration doesn't really worry about photos of them too much.
It's photos of dead marines coming home in body bags that scares the crap out of Americans, and therefore the administration. Did know the press have been banned from taking pictures at the base where all the bodies are flown back to? How the hell does that fly with freedom of the press?
Casualty levels this month are (I believe) around 20% of the level during the worst years of the Vietnam war (although of course, this is nowhere near "sustained" yet, and probably cannot be due to lack of terrain advantage, and disparity of hardware/Intel).
It's a messy war, it was always going to be - sadly Bush & Co. genuinely are quite, QUITE stupid - and I don't mean that in an insulting way, I mean it in a truthful, shed light on the matter way - they have been incredibly naive.

tbh i cant see a wrong or right answer to this.Saddam needed stopping,i think everyone can agree to that. But the fact that so many innocent people have been killed in this makes me wonder whether it was worth it or not.
As for stopping the war on terror i only see this sort of thing increasing the frustration of terrorists.Weve seen this week with the plot to suicide Man utd vs Liverpool this weekend. What if they hadent have been caught? In the words of a guy who came and gave us a speech at college "Terrorism is coming to britain"
and that scares me.

Would it be too ironic to edit the thread to remove the less work safe images? :)

Well, if they hadn't been stopped, we'd have seen insurance premiums go up for football clubs. Other than that I wouldn't really notice a difference in my life if Michael Owen and Roy Keane were in little chunks in the ground.
People need to get terrorism into proportion.
Finally, that quote at the end is ridiculous. We're one of the world foremost experts on terrorism, we've been dealing with it in Ireland for decades, and before that during the times of the empire for centuries. Terrorism has always been a part of our lives.
A more accurate quote is that Terrorism is (finally) come to the USA in a big way - and that's got the attention of the worlds media.

Its called having some respect for the dead how about we barge in to there religeous temples and take some photos of there dead and show them photos can you imaging the uproar from the world??? Well why the hell should it be differant to the ppl coming in the base to photograph our dead. Those soliders went out there to keep the peace and fight they have a CHOICE to go or not they cannot be forced and are allowed to object to the posting on beliefs. I think its insulting to the ones who died for there country doing a job they believed in.

I think posting this on a gaming forum is pretty pointless to be honest.

Of course its distressing and possibly even offensive to some people to see body bags being brought off a plane - but you don't have a right not to be offended, and news about distressing events is, by definition, distressing.
If news organisations were run by persons like yourself we'd spend 24/7 watching photos of smiling politicians kissing babies and hearing celebrity gossip.
They aren't even allowed to show coffins coming off the planes. Is that somehow disrespectful? I think it's disrespectful and insulting to the familiies of the dead to claim that somehow the death of their son, and his honourable return to his homeland after duty is not newsworthy, because it might lose votes.
The whole POINT of the free press is to show things both distasteful and charming - if there are 10 marines dying every day, american people have a RIGHT to see the consequences of that, so they can make an informed decision as to whether they wish to remain in Iraq or not.
The administration in the US, and the government here in the UK basically used the media as their primary tool when they played the populations into believing they "had" to go into Iraq - they use the media as a tool against their own people - do you find this acceptable?
Incidentally, when it suits them, they show not only pictures of coffins or services, but full facial shots of the dead - including those shot in the face. Remember Uday and Qusay?
You need to understand that any control of the media by the government is a bad thing and never results in good.

To be perfectly honest this sort of thing is a discrace, just waiting for the whole thread to be deleted.

Hmm, interestingly it appears the American Judiciary agree that such information/pictures is in the public interest, but despite their intervention the Bush Administration has *again* banned such photos, despite the court agreeing to a Freedom Of Information Request...
