How is this done .. ?

I built up into the vincinity of the enemy base then started building some energy towers around... for some reason, HE took over MINE, so I am clearly lacking in the skills department here ... how do I grab his buildings?

Hmm I think I have sussed it out in some form .. build an energy collector near one of theirs, then flip the shield up quick when its ready.. I must refine this.

I am clearly missing a trick here, is this the beta or is there a demo sculling around?

indeed you ARE mr CABE

There is a single player demo released I think, 2 days previous.

I got mine from the SHACK o Files (http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=4883)

clearly the perimeter website is out of date.

Yes, I think there is a definite business opportunity for as-it-happens updates to these gaming websites... my rudimentary knowledge of HTML should serve me in good stead :D

Actually what I would rather do is take over the responsibility of various EA game websites and let the public know just what the hell is going on.

For example on the Vietnam site I would be only too happy to revise the Support section so that under the Poor Performance page would be the advice to turn off all your fancy EAX effects and go back to primitive 2-speaker sound because we wanted your money too damn bad to release it in a workable state :)

Sorry getting a bit sidetracked. Codemasters should keep their own site(s) up to date, especially with new, hyped upcoming games like Perimeter rather than rely on the 3D Gaming Sites to pick up the stick. I didn't mind fiddling about for a while learning what everything does but it would be nice if I can't figure something out to be able to learn how it works on the official website or some other provided documentation.

In relation to Andy's original question:

Build 36 normal guys and 12 officers. Run them to the enemy base, then hold Control-T and press S to transform them to the "squatter" unit. One dubious transformation animation later you have an ill-smelling workshy unit who will hang around the enemy base until they leave the door open then move in and piss on all the furniture. 12 years later the game awards you the property, although it's value has plummeted in that time...

Haha excellent, I must move to the 'City' and develop a wit as sharp as zak's. Clearly all that stockbrokerage has its uses. And yes, that morphing animation is very odd.

I hope your reffering to BF1942 and not 1942, the classic arcade game.
