Sorry to spill it over from the other thread, but I'd like to find out... Post as well as vote so we can get an accurate depiction of experiences...

Can you play Far Cry?

Option 2 here btw...
Disabled Daemon Tools

nb - Dont spam or flame the thread... use it as proper feedback so Wizzo can submit exactly who are having the problems to Ubi so a quicker fix might be reached...

yes, had to install the no cd patch, as well as use the 1.1 update, as the graphics slowdown was a killer without it.

P.S. tell UBI its too damn hard !! Finally did the reactor level and it took me ages, and im playing on easy level.

P.P.S. Those monsters are kinda scary..

Works for me with no problems of virtual drives or fps stutters. I've not even installed the 1.1 patch yet.

Worked ok for me out of the box. Had one dodgy checkpoint save when my jeep kept on blowing up. Also wjen I started the 2nd last level i had a few crash to desktops. I've finally finished the game, and boy was it hard. Sweet game though, gave my system a run for its money and now i know I'm going to have to upgrade.

Anyone know whats a good upgrade, current system is an xp 2500+, ti4600 and 1gig of ram. Or should i wait untill the new motherboards and graphics cards come out.

As Holes, but 9800xt and runs beautifully with all graphics options on.
Only thing is, mouse action is quite sluggish, should I be putting mouse acceleration on? Is it on by default in most fps's ?

As with many others it works fine for me. Even on my humble 3200+ and 9600 Pro. Hell, i can even run it on top settings (Bar the resolution) at a playable FPS. (Do get the odd pause due to my lack of RAM at 512)

It seems it has more to do about luck than your spec when it comes to running the game.

Athlon 64 3400+
Geforce FX 5950 ultra
1gb ram

Worked fine out of the box (despite Alchohol 120% running). Plays fine at max graphics settings / 1280x1024 resolution. Not tried the 1.1 patch yet.

There's new forceware drivers to render the water better for 5900/5950 ultra cards. 56.72 I think

Can't get it to run at all.

First had the 'Insert correct CD-Rom' problem. (I have no emulation software running at all).

Solved this (well, sort of) by following a suggestion on the Ubi boards, and created a new limited User Account. Then it would run - but when I started a game, all I got was black and white screens (the intro screen rendered fine). I have just updated to the newest ATI drivers, so hopefully that will help.

Although I have paid for the game (Grrr), it seems one way to solve a lot of the problems is to use a no-cd crack (judging by the poll at the start of the thread). If anyone could either PM or post to let me know where I might get one of these (which wouldn't do horrible things to my system) I would be grateful.

I don't like using cracks - never have. I feel it's a risk to my computer. But I am getting desperate and frustrated.

Edit: I got the crack, and now BOTH problems are fully solved. Typical!
