Here is a list of banned software
(as I find more, i'll update it)
Virtual Drive (by Farstone)
CloneCD (by Elaborate Bytes)
CloneCD (by Slysoft)
CopyStar (by Unknown)
These items will STOP FarCry from even loading. Remove these programs before running the game and all is well.

addition -
For people with Daemon Tools, Right click on the icon, choose Emulation and 'All Options Off' to allow the game to load...
CloneCD people can apparantly play by unticking 'Hide CDR Media' in the CloneCD Tray App...

We do not condone the use of hacks/cracks, regardless of their questionable legality.

That's ok, we don't condone software publishers who force this inflexible copy protection on us.
Indeed, Im boycotting them at the moment, and due to copy protection I have neither Far Cry nor UT 2004 - Im sure there will be more games fall into this category.
You know what? I don't miss em either.

Afty, UT2K4 had its protection removed in the patch...
Ah right - cool. Well, if there still seems to be plenty of people LANning it, I might buy it then.

probably because it dredged up an old post.
Some people don't like it as they read the entire thread again and get embarressed when they realise it's at least a year old.
go figure

I had this problem with a game recently I think it was Settlers Heritage of Kings. I cracked it rather than uninstalling my Clone Drive.
Unless the software is running off said Clone Drive its none of the Game Developers business what I have running on my system regardless of what purposes it can be used for.
Whats next search the system for any cracking software or hes editors etc.

Roll on Daemon Tools Pro with it's vIDE drives, shame you have to pay for it, but I suspect that it will be worth it since the free version will not have this facility.

Well no doubt the people who do use it for less than legit purposes will find a less than legit copy
