Any suggestions?

I am running an Athlon 2.8ghz with 512 mb of corsair ram and a geforce4 ti

I run farcry at the second lowest resolution, with all detail set to low, and in D3D mode.

In single player it runs great, hardly any fps drops or slowdown, yet in multiplay the performance is dire, when i first join a server the first 2 minutes or so aren't too bad, but it gets progressively jerkier and laggier until I quit in frustration.

Any ideas? My PC runs Counter-strike fantastically well in OpenGL, but it's dire in D3D, any idea how to run FarCry in OpenGL ( if it's possible), since there is no other option other than "D3D" in the drop-down box

Cheers!

You're experiencing exactly what I noticed on the beta for the multiplayer. It is almost as if the game is taking more and more of the PC's resources and not letting them go for other processes. I was assured by the Producer for FarCry at i19 that this was one of the issues they had resolved for the final release (along with improving the netcode). It seems like the issue is still there.

My only suggestions would be to make sure you're completely up to date with all of your patches and updates. Make sure you're using recent nVidia drivers (as they managed to squeeze some more performance out of them since about version 52-53 (currently on 56). Also make sure you're using DirectX 9.0b.

Apart from that, I can't think of anything else that could be causing a problem. Are you sharing your internet connection with anyone else at home?

I also had the same problem with the beta. The release however is sweet as a nut. Try running the configure app and disabling each of the special gfx features till it runs properly.
Spec here P4 2.5 with GF TI4600

I've resorted to running everything at minimum and still no joy; there are about a hundred complaints on the official forum about this issue, so I'm guessing it's a problem with farcry rather than my machine specifically.

There's an 'unofficial OpenGL driver' bundled with the game... instructions are in the readme I think...

my pc struggled like mad to be able to show the inside of the aircraft carrier, I died so often being unable to move my mouse it became to much so I left it.

(My pc, Intel PIV 3.06, 1Gb 400 Ram, Ge5 5600, Sata HD).

however, once i had installed the latest nvidia drivers and more importantly the 1.1 update, the frame rate jumped up noticeably, meaning I was able to play almost trouble free (although still a bit laggy in places, usually indoors).

Have you updated to the 1.1 patch? and did it make any difference..

Ps internet play is lagging like mad no matter what ping, but offline should be a lot better with 1.1
