6pm Friday 28th to 6pm Monday 31st May 2004
Stratlan 19Stratlan 19 (http://www.multiplay.co.uk/StratLAN19/)
Yes its time for some nice spring Stratlan traditional joy.
Tent Space
Indoor sleeping
"meat" the finest LAN BBQ available
bring your own beer (no bar on site)
large spacious gaming area
huge "omfg social" area
3 whole days and early friday arrival for those that can (pending being used as slaves to set up)
Catering 'stuff'
Internet connection for those that MUST
I'm also fairly sure the "illegal" rave will be back.
There are a few other things we would like to do, like actually force your slack fat backsides into some large team games. Play some out doors games... like footy, or death WWF final fight-ball as I know it.
Hope to see you there.

Ahh Stratlan.. the memories. First time I actually kissed my boyfriend, and I wasn't even with him then, lol.
I can't wait for Stratlan, definately one of the best LANs out there. The illegal rave must be the best bit of it tbh. So much drinking and spillage, loudness, loving.. oh yes... hehe.
Eeeep I hope I have a job then! *panics*... Well anyway I look forward to going, and everyone, we should plan a few games n stuff like Bugs said :) If everyone takes something, whether it be a football, PS2, lights for the ravey disco, music, guitar, it'll all add up, and it'll all r0x0r everyones b0x0rz, quite literally, hehe.

and speaking of puking.....to make up for my previous puking (which probalby if on the floor could have completely covered the building a few inches deep)
i shall try to get there early to help bugs and co with setting up of tables :x
EDIT: If anyone does puke on the carpets /me looks at gemz..... when my dad picks me up ill ask him to bring the professional carpet cleaner so it can be cleaned :P

Ahh Baz is coming, hehe. I definately wont be puking up everywhere... I wont be drinking as much. Well. Not aftershock anyway. I need to drink Baileys, and.. Southern Comfort, random beer, lol... OMG I still have ALL of the Aftershock from xmaslan... is it even edible anymore? I do wonder. I will attempt to drink it one day. Maybe I should take it to this Stratlan? lol :P and Gunsmith u love me really :P

But if you do bring the aftershock i will have a few shots

Prof, don't **** it up for the rest of the u18's by getting drunk again, they've only just decided to let u18's come to this one after the antics last event.
So do us all a favour and not get drunk, e-cool as it may be, it pisses most people off.
vvthx.
See you all at SL20 providing Prof doesnt **** up.

right dan let me be perfectly honest with you......
do you realise how many people you actually piss off yourself?
do you realise how much of a bell you are at times?
do you realise that it aint funny when you take the piss out of peoples problems, especially when you have your own going on dan.....you didnt like it on the uktfcl forums when someone was taking the piss out of you did you?
So dan get a clue and think about how you would like it if people poked fun at stuff going on in your home life
gemz
21st March 2004, 23:41
Good point tbh Dan. Just make sure u listen to your own advice too.
MWAHAHHA I'm over 18 I can do what I like :P
This Aftershock is looking at me :( It's saying "drink meeeeeeeee" ahhhhh must resist. Maybe when I sniff it I will put it back down...
Prof you are NOT having Aftershock. kthx.
Dan
21st March 2004, 23:42
Not going to stoop to your level and turn this into a flame war.
Just going to say 2 things.
1. Look into a mirror before you criticise others, you won't like what you see.
2. Stay away from the drink at SL, you can't handle it. (I'm not saying I can either)
thx.
gemz I've never been off my face, or puked at a stratlan, and I'm not going to in the future, its not worth ruining a whole Weekend LAN with the **** feeling you get after being ruined.

It's the fact that he boasts about drinking and being drunk that worries me boff :p
I never denied i was a kiddy lightweight, hence me never really participating in the yeehaa etc, just simply cause I'd get owned very quickly.

Im agreeing with you on that.....I cant handle spirits at all, stratlan was first time i had spirits really other than the occasional whiskey, and i was well and truely ****ed and i dont wanna be like that as ive already said to bugs.
And im not boasting bout getting drunk.....instead of being pissed off by those pics i just laugh at em now and laugh at myself for being such an idiot
Dan I will get drunk....not that sort of drunk i was at last un though. I know my limits with beer and alcopops and such. I will be nicely pissed where im hugging everyone and wake up fine in the morning able to remember some of it at least.
Oh and most importantly not throwing up
and gemma at least i didnt throw up on the carpet and cleaned up the small amount i threw up on the floor
Dan
21st March 2004, 23:59
I know my limits
Famous last words, you better not **** up.
[edit because im not going to keep making loads of silly little posts]
In reply to post below, I think you'll find that you're loud and abusive when drunk, people don't tend to like that, and I think thats one of the reasons that a U18 ban was being considered, the fact you were mouthing off to people like Wizzo that night.
While when drunk I may do some "silly" things, I dont go around slagging the world and his dog off.

What about making SLan so it's only the Over 18's that can drink, but all can attend?
Or would that be a bit tricky to police, what with the growing numbers attending StratLAN.
ProfLiebstrom
22nd March 2004, 00:14
wouldnt be hard to police but theres no point in it really is ther e dan.....everyone makes a tit of themself at least once and IF by some fluke i do get well and truly ****ed again i aks that bugs only ban me and not everyone else under 18....not everyone should be punished forone persons stupidness

As For UnderAge Drinking, i think that if someone -18 gets Drunk ok, but if they do something silly/make a tit of them selves then the 'Older' peeps should inforce the no drinking by the Tit :p
I can say confidently that i got 'Quite' pissed at the last SL, but just went out of the way, threw up once (Dodgy pizza Earlier didnt help :/ ) but then just went back to gaming, so i think i can handle me bring drunk :) but still if i made a compleat tit out of my self, i still think that i shouldnt be allowed to drink at the next SL
BTW, Last SL at FISSC when i got a Little too drunk, i was helped to my sleeping bag by Elye and Riki (WP :)) but as far as i herd didnt do anything too stupid :p Apploigies if i did :)

Afty
26th March 2004, 17:03
Just to be *clear* here, my plan for this event includes the following items (though a proper schedule + itinerary has yet to be drawn up).
1] Football stylee competition if the weather is not wet - 7 a side, playground pickage on MULTIPLE days (yes you 'orrible little lot, we *will* get you fit)
2] Show the young'uns how to drink enough to keep the Titanic afloat when her pumps have stopped working without bringing it back "over the side".
3] Lay around in bed until the sun shines down on me and the grass calls me for more football.
4] Find seven opponents to play Kohan against (remember, last time we had StratLAN Kohan the 6 didn't manage it, but when we added the 7th player you guys won).
5] Play some Savage, Far Cry (oh yes hot momma), Total Annhilation, Generals, Monopoly Tycoon, Battlefield, Allegiance (big game plz thx k), Homeworld 2.
6] Pray for little enough wind that we can have 20-a-side ULTIMATE Frisbee.
In other words, children, it's time to take StratLAN back about 3 years, BACK TO BASICS!

Official doors open is 6pm on Friday. However, we will be there from about lunchtime, so if you want to lend a hand you can come by from then. If you do come in early though, please be prepared to lend a hand. People standing around talking during the joy of setup can go wait outside :)

Which is the best route to get to the event from M40 north? Is it much different route to the old FISSC venue ?

Not at all old son. The other side of the town, but still part of it.
The simplest way is to leave the MWay at J15 like normal, follow the same dual carriageway up the hill, and the main road into town. Once you get to the town centre, go left over the bridge like you would to the old venue, but go down to the little roundabout on the other side, take the Right exit, and then Right again at the next little roundabout. This brings you round the back of the town centre. After the bridge over the Avon, take Right *again* at the next roundabout, then at the Next roundabout take a Left. The racecourse is just under 1 mile down the road on the left, signposted.
So, to sum up : Over the narrow bridge near town centre, then RIGHT at the next THREE roundabouts, LEFT at the next and the racecourse is signposted down this road.
(And yes I know it's not the shortest way of getting through but I was going for simple not short.)

24th May 2004, 13:52
Sounds good.
Am I on chauffeur duty or are you going to be .. delayed ?
The shortest ver:
Go into the town centre after the one way with McDonalds on your left, keep going until you pass Snappys/Buddys on your left - this is just before some traffic lights. Turn left at the lights, racecourse is signposted - 1.5 miles down the road on the left. (straight over the roundabout)
OK, so the short ones were simpler. BAH!

I don't really know where the McDonalds is (stop laughing), but I vaguely remember it's in a weird one-way ish section and I don't know how to negotiate the area :D

Best bet is to phone someone when you arrive and ask them to shout around for transport.
Failing that (i.e. everyone is drunk) grab a taxi it's about 1.5 miles so v cheap.

Hehe, my speedo goes to 180. Therefore I win. Bwahahaha.
Do you know what your final gear ratio is Andy, as in what speed do you do at red line in top? Mine works out at about 168 I think. Never taken it quite that far though.
Also, returning to the original point of how to scare people in cars, top speed on it's own is useless, since once you are travelling at a constant speed you can't feel it. Acceleration is where it's at. That and cornering. And braking, sometimes.
Classic case in point, coming home along the dual carriageway tonight at a steady 70, no biggie, just as I'm coming up to the roundabout at the end, where I'm going straight on, a Golf GTi comes barrelling up in the second lane. Clearly trying to get past before the single carriageway section beyond the roundabout and making the mistaken assumption that he's driving a sports car. (It was a mark 4 not a 1 or 2, yes I know the early one's are good)
He's screaming up the outside as we come towards the SLOW signs and that's where it all starts to go wrong for him...
You see, I don't have to break until about half-way after the last hundred yard marker, because I have brakes bigger that his wheels, so while he disappears backwards early on, I can heel-toe-it down into second, jink across the roundabout getting the power on plenty early enough so the turbo's spooled up and pushing on the way out, and catapult off the far side with no fuss, no mess, and considerably more speed than him. Next time I looked up he was about half a mile back. :)
Sorry, just had to share that with you all, made me grin all the rest of the way home. That's the fun bit of driving a rally-bred sports car, it always makes the other bits worth while. Just don't talk to me about: repair bills, funny rattles and noises from the engine, badgers, petrol costs, ditches, badgers or insurance. Or badgers.

Actually, I think you missed the context of Andys post. The pic was automatically posted via GPRS from his camera phone, the pic pointing at the speedo, and the car about 7 inches from a brick wall and closing.
Or were you *not* wondering why Andy had failed to post again?

Ahh, point taken. Ask Zak about the trip back to my house to fetch a monitor cable at CatsLAN. That got quite fun in the lanes.

p.s. best way to scare people in cars is to get to top speed, and then pull the handbreak (don't try this at home/on the road it inevitably leads to a crash)

Safty point here.
Dont and I mean ever race a car on the public roads! Let me explain...
Driving my Rover 600ti down some dual track, another rover ti comes up my arse as if to prove he had the same car or something, so I bites and floors it, its 5pm and the road is busy, im reach 120mph as i approach an offset junctions I jab the brakes to lose some speed just incase some pulls out, as I look in my mirror the other Rover (who was obviously too close and not looking ahead of me) breaks to later and the last I see of him is traveling sideways across the inside lane, across a clear juntion, and straight into some bushes! (He got out! - i didnt stop!).
The moral of the story is, not matter how good a driver you think you are, YOU NOT! Dont do it.
I learned my lesson that day, and no-one was hurt. - Guess I was the lucky one. I have not driven in that way since. And I guess the world is a better place for it.
:)

ETA circa 1200-1300 hrs.
Depending what time I can drag myself out of the pit on a day off.
Mental conversation will go like this:
"Get up you lazy bugger. Things to do!"
"No. 's my day off. Hard fought priveledge. Sleeping now. Go way."
"Not even if I dangle a LANy carrot in front of you?"
"Oooh. Follow the pretty lights..."
At which point I'll find myself falling out of bed, and may, or may not get up.
