Hi folks,
I am actually lookin to purchase a 16 man server and as yet you still only off for the demo. What I am wondering is if you now know the specs required and are takening orders for servers (dedicated server released ). Or do you plan to keep it at 12?
Cheers

You might get a faster response going into #mpukhosting on Quakenet. They are still all recovering from i19 which finished yesterday. The dedicated server for 2004 retail was only released at the weekend though, so I'd give them a chance to see how much it takes in the way of specifications. It's not like you can even use the server yet. The retail version of the game isn't out yet. :)

Oh darn, you mean I'll have to wait for my demo server to be upgraded to the full game?
I thought I'd be able to run the full game on Friday :(

We are moving demo servers over to retail on request. Just pop into #mpukhosting on Quakenet or drop us an e-mail at clanservers@multiplay.co.uk .
The 12 player limit still remains; but this may be reviewed when we've had a chance to see how the CPU usage of retail compares to the demo. If it doesn't use as much, we'll up the limit.

Its looking unlikely that we will be upping the player limit without either significant cost, or banning certain game modes/maps.
Basicly, Onslaught utterly rapes the CPU. We tried running a single 32 player server on a dual 2.8 gig machine with 2gig of RAM... it was running at 100% before the server was even full.

So what about 20 player servers? 12 player servers are kind of small and the ons battles are not as intense.
However, if it would mean a signifcant price increase, I doubt you would get many takers.
As Muldoon said a 20 player server would use ~80% CPU and as such will only be avalible on dedicated machines (http://gaming.multiplay.co.uk/dedicatedserver_pricing.php) see the link for pricing.
