Earlier on in the year I posted a way to get 1280x1024 resolution in Zero Hour, as that resolution is the native mode for most 17-19" LCD's.
Here's the trick to get it to work with Battlefield.
After much pain and misery I figured out how to get BF1942 to run in WS:
Delete all profiles
Enter custom rez in Settings / Profiles / Custom / Video.con
Restart, and click on Multiplayer (do not choose a profile)
If you ever select a profile again, you'll have to redo it. Note that the widescreen only applies to the loading and playing screens, not the initial startup or game selection screens.
So to recap this chap's post, go to your Battlefield Install directory (mine is c:\games\battlefield 1942)
Then go here
Mods\bf1942\Settings\Profiles\Custom
Now edit your video.con and put in your desired res. Mine looks like this:
game.setGameDisplayMode 1280 1024 32
(that's the only line I altered btw)
For the hell of it I also personally altered the Video.con files in the Default profile and andyf profile. In the andyf profile video.con I also stuck '60' on the end of the line thus making it
game.setGameDisplayMode 1280 1024 32 60
which gives me a 60hz refresh. Although this is the default so I don't think it matters much.
Enjoy.
Got this working in 1.5 ok, looks very nice now.
