Ok, everytime I play CoD everythings fine for a while, then for no apparent reason I get the windows error "This program has encountered a problem and needs to close. Apoligies for any inconvenience"
Its the same error msg you get on xp for any program that stops responding, but I only get it on CoD and it seems copmpletely random.
Any ideas?

Wow, good response :D
nm, seems it was my gfx drivers. I was using latest Dets, (they also caused dodgy textures in BF btw), found some older ones lying around my hdd and installed those.
Seems to have done the trick. :)

You using detonator drivers? Ahhh some clues to what might be going wrong..
COD had a patch which apparently helped fixed this issue, assuming you've installed that patch and still getting the issues, the following might work for you (worked for me!).
1. Ensure you have the latest CATALYST Windows Driver (http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html) downloaded and ready to install. (V3.10c)
2. Grab the CATALYST Uninstaller (http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/misc/catalystutils.html) from the ATI website.
3. Run the CATALYST Uninstaller 1st, it will ask to reboot your machine do so.
4. Install the Latest driver (V3.10 currently).
5. Everything will be fine. (assuming it is your graphics card giving u grief)
**Techinal** Apparently there are bugs in the V3.8 & V3.9 cat drivers. For me it caused COD to go horribly wrong, and I started getting nasty texture problems in other games. Just installing to V3.10 didnt fix the problems, becuase V3.8 or V3.9 left loads of nasty crap on my machine. Using the Cat Remover, then installing V3.10 worked nicely :)

Catalyst drivers are for ATi cards. Dets are for Nvidia cards...

Doh! Thnx Chris
Must learn to screw head on... For those with ATI cards, follow above advice, otherwise ignore :D
Cheers :D
