Hi all

ive started work on my next map titled Fight For Stalingrad (ffs). This map is going to be a tottally 100% new map and will not look or feel anything like EA's stalingrad map.

This project is going to take a long time to complete but ive made a good start. These screens are mainly from the russian side of the river. The russians will spawn at the docks and by the train waggons to give a feel of the real thing. They must then take lcvp's to the docks on the other side of the river and then assault into Red Square. This map will be nothing short of epic. Anyways here are the screens :)

Screen 2 (http://harlequins.bf1942.multiplay.co.uk/images/maps/FFS/screen02.jpg)

Screen 3 (http://harlequins.bf1942.multiplay.co.uk/images/maps/FFS/screen03.jpg)

A word on Saipan_Beach_Assault. I submitted it into the EA/Dice mapping contest and once the winners have been announced the map will be released to the public. Good Luck to all that entered the comp :)

One thing tho: am i wrong to remember that it was the GERMANS that attacked and after that surrounded the town keeping the russians there for 2 years ?

That depends on how you look at it Buzz. The 6th german army attacked Stalingrad in August 1942 and after some firce street battles they captured most of the city in the fall 1942. However, the tast of victory was bitter sweet because on the 19-22 of september that same year the Russian commanders Vatutins and Rokossovskij launched a counter attack and surrounded 284000 german soldiers. The germans then tried to establish an airroute to supply their troops but it failed. Hitler prohibited any attempts to break out or surrender. The 10th of januari the Russians launched the final strike against the 6th german army. At the 2nd of February the german army surrenders and Stalingrad falls to the Russians. By then 34000 german soldiers had been evacuated by air and 90000 soldiers had died. The rest were captured and sent of to work camps in Siberia. There are no numbers of the Russian casulties.

So, Krak3n could basicly chose which side that should attack, either one would be historicly correct :)

I have to much time on my hands...

Its looking good, but to me I think you need to try to get more of an enclosed, 'city feel' to the map the way Berlin does - ie whereever you look there's a building in the way :)

Good luck, I'm looking forward to playing this next year :D
