How quick is quick?

So, quick question for you. What counts as a quick rush?

I've recently been practising an unorthodox rush technique using USA superweapon, and was wondering how it compared to the more common GLA/China rush techniques.

It's hard to quantify the speed or success of these things but for the sake of arguement, my bests against an easy computer army are winning in 2 minutes 48 seconds with him building three buildings and only harvesting $300.

I appreciate this isn't necessarily indicative of how you would do against human opponents (though it does work against people too) but it provides a basic speed yardstick.

I'm finding it quite addicitve trying to improve on my best time and catch that elusive first supply truck before it drops... :) I will doff my hat to anyone who can get a zero resources harvested score.

Further update. Without worrying about the resources (i.e. not attacking them as a priority so he actually gets a couple of thousand dollars), I've got a time of 2 minutes 12.

hmm, I have to admit, I don't want to get into the old "what is a rush, what is not a rush" discussion I seem to remember having with some Warcraft 3 kiddies who claimed a "Chimera Rush".

Suffice to say, "RUSH" implies something done hurriedly and in a very short space of times. It's only my opinion but I don't think it's possible to rush with super weapons or high tech units - that's a BUILD UP, not a rush...

I'm not implying a use of advanced tech tree here, the basis of it involves rocket men, who aren't exactly that advanced are they?

To make it work you really do have to get a hurry on. It's definately a rush. The only reason I use the superweapon general is because... but that would be telling. :)

Omission of the word "general" made it read like you were rushing them with particle cannons... :)

Yes, I can throw particle cannons with deadly accuracy, and a building that big leaves quite a mark. :p:

I don't think it's even possible to put up a particle canon in that level of time. Hmm, off to check.

Quickest time for a particle cannon is approximately 7 minutes 5 seconds to firing.

This is limited by the build times of the required sequence:

Power station - Supply centre - Airfield - Strategy Centre - Particle Cannon

That lot takes about three minutes plus the four minute count down timer plus the firing delay. :)

So no, I don't think anyone could claim to be doing a particle cannon rush per se.

Hmm, wonder how quick the other ones are?

Further update.

USA: 7 minutes 5 seconds to particle cannon attack
China: 8 minutes 44 seconds to nuclear missile
GLA: 9 minutes 41 seconds to SCUD storm

I suppose this reflects their relative strengths... Bit of a surprise though. The reputation is always that the GLA are quickest.
