Fresh Trax 3 hour discounted recreational session. Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays starting 9:30am. Adults £28.00, Juniors £24.00

^^ The above is one of the special sessions MK runs at the xscape snow slope. We (so far only bgh and myself) propose to go to the Monday 22nd Dec fresh trax session (which is in 2 weeks time from writing this) so we would like to know who wants to come (because then i can make stu book - if it's necessary)

If you wanna come along reply to the thread.. bear in mind this is an early start and also a weekday for you working types :)
It would be nice to have a get together for skiiers and boarders (doesnt matter if you're going on the mpuk trip or not) and to have a practise before we hit the alps in february ;)

**edit** by the way, MK have a minimum standard of controlled descent/turns and being able to use the poma lifts

I should also congratulate her0n for her skillz in organising ahead of time. Time to go blag work for some time off then.

But yeah its a cool slope, lots of snow, too many lame ass skiers clogging up the place but they make lovely slalom courses. Also a free bacon roll afterwards, if you finish early enough ;)

her0n
8th December 2003, 20:48
oh yeah free bacon roll! but only till 11am

I'd love to, but I'm sadly still in "gainful" 9-5 employment for a few more weeks.

Oh, and it's 14 quid for 2 hours inc' hire et. up here - all year round :)

her0n
10th December 2003, 22:51
yes but real snow afty!

i bet that price is for dry slope... if i wanted to dry slope ski i would go for free at work :P The great unwashed adults pay £11.20 for 2 hours inc hire at work ;P

i was hoping you'd see this anyway :D no chance of getting time off work?

OMFG! CHEAPER DOWN SOUTH!!!!

Sadly no, it appears I can't get that day off work, as I've already booked my hols, and they're rather inflexible here :(

Incase you didnt know, there is a BIGGER Xscape now at Castleford, yes it has REAL snow :)

anyway, just thought I would say.

Actually I believe the castleford one is significantly smaller, it has 1 moderate width slope whereas MK has 3, castleford is also slightly shorter I think

Alas their website sucks so I can't confirm it

Wubster
11th December 2003, 12:43
I can assure you it IS bigger :)

The slope itself can hold approx 250 people at the same time, it is also one of the largest Indoor slopes in Europe :)

I only know this **** cos my wife works there and I get to go there for free.........

Wooo... well the website does suck, but if the slope's big, then Im going there in a week or so to praccy.

Anyone know how big the slope is compared with the dry ski slope at Rossendale?

Wubster
11th December 2003, 14:19
I am talking to the wifey right now, getting details :)

190 metres long

holds 250 people

Im guessing 50 metres wide, since they dont have that written down, It has a levelled out bit in the middle (cos some people suck and dont like going to the top)

One thing I dont like is the ride up is sooooooo slow :(.

Clothing Hire is £5 - Trousers and Jacket, You either have to buy gloves or bring your own.

I am not sure what else is at Milton Keynes, but in this xscape there is a climbing wall, assault course - suspended form the roof, 14 screen cinema, and a shed load of food places.

Wubs

And yes their website really does suck balls

afty
11th December 2003, 14:46
lick

lick

lick balls :)

But thanks for the info. Now I just need to find out what 250m in real terms (as in compared with Rossendale) ;)

afty
11th December 2003, 14:49
Rossendale is 200x25 on the main slope, so it's a bit bigger, that's cool!

MK = 2 slopes that 170mx20m each + a 3rd 135mx20m slope

Castleford = 1 slope 150mx30m and one dinky 35mx20m one

Source www.theboarder.co.uk

MK usually has one slope for skiing and one as a nice little park slope and stuff

150m? thats pitifully small ;(

Big Giant Head
11th December 2003, 17:22
all the indoor slopes are really compared to the real thing

I can recommend sheffield as a superb outdoor slope and very large too, although I can't find any stats on that, its also snowflex for the most part which means it hurts a lot less when you fall ;)

Jus 2 let u no, i live in MK, and have worked in Xscape for about a year, along with my brother who worked in 'snozone'. I can tell ya all about it and all the in's and out's if ya want.

I did my snowboardin lessons there, and cba to comlete them, but it was a gr8 laugh, and the facilities r excellent. Most of that guff is on the xcape webby though, so i wont bore u.

if u got ur own boots, jacket and/or salapets then bring em, kas it aint cheep, thats unless ur like me who get all hire for free

anyway av fun, and if u do want anymore info 4 when ur in mk, post me

Would you mind posting again, explaining what snowflex is, what dendix is, and re-writing your first sentence so I can understand it?

Cheers!

dendex has diamond shaped holes and is like a big bristly toothbrush.

snowflex is like a carpet with smaller bristles.

dendex is fine once you get used to it ;)

Me: all the indoor slopes are really compared to the real thing

Dendix = the standard dryslope stuff with the mesh of bristles that hurts when you fall on it
Snowflex = the new dryslope stuff that's more like sprung carpet and hurts less when you fall on it

Dryslope in general hurts, snow all the way thx :)

tomorrow we (i tell a lie, STU) shall be booking the places.
anyone who wants to come who hasn't given us a definite yes above will have to email Stu (bgh@multiplay.co.uk) before NOON tomorrow and tell him they wanna come. <-- that includes you braindead!

if you miss this i'm afraid you'll have to phone them up yourself :P

definites so far (i think this is the same as earlier)

The cost will be £28 for the 3 hour session (starting at 9.30) so if you can get your money to stu/bgh asap that'd be excellent :)
I'd suggest arriving for about 9am to allow for any queues and the like for reception and ski hire blah blah blah.

i think that is all.. hmm.. yup it is :) thanks

nah that's cool gifted m8, ski hire is free with the price to get in, just remember gloves cause they don't let you on without them :)

Also you might be in luck and they might have a kicker or a couple of rails open on the park slope although its doubtful on a monday morning, always good for a laugh though :)

I for one plan to turn up in the Alps and fall down hill in best northern england style.

Can't be that hard.

Due to work commitments I am no longer able to attend. Sorry guys. I wasn't aware there was a financial commitment needed here, and tbh haven't been watching this thread that much so only went on what was stated before. If it's going to be a real problem I'm sure I'll be able to "sort out" Stu in one way or another :)

Was looking forward to it too :(

Ah, that's more like the Wizzo we know and love - there was a dangerous trend towards actually attending things he booked this year.
