View Full Version : Crazy american rocket troopers - bug?

I was playing a 1 v 2 CPU battle last night against the US Air Force general and China. Was testing various ways of defending base under attack.

Was going fine until this infamous bug hit me again and lost half of my defending force. Luckily I was the GLA Toxin General and a scud to the face stopped them.

What happens is this.

American rocket troopers approach. Normally they get within X metres and open fire. They fire a rocket, with a vapour trail, X times per second.

Now, they can utilise laser lock, which IIRC doesn't leave a vapour trail on the rockets - they fire a fair bit quicker straight at their target. As far as I am aware, they can only target vehicles and nothing else - no base / civvy buildings or infantry.

The bug I've spotted is very much like the troopers are laser locking. However they are firing without a laser and at extreme range - they have practically the same range as a Scud launcher as one of mine got taken out whilst reloading to hit them. They can hit ANYTHING - in this case, scorpion tanks and buildings packed with rocket infantry (which couldn't meet their range). Last time this happened they were able to absolutely decimate my Chinese gattling turret defences, and when I half heartedly sent *5* gattling tanks to meet them (there were approx 3 guys at this event), I was shocked and surprised to see the tanks wasted before they even fired a single shot. I then lost overlords with gattling turrets to these same ****ers.

Anyone else noticed this? It can't be intentional - they're far far far too powerful.

Hazzar,

Funny you said that AndyF, happend to us a few days ago. The rocketmen had super ranged super speed rockets.

I even have a screenshot of the action, there are about 4 nme rocket troops, and count on that screen about 9 rockets  .
The computer was a USA Laser general.

Darn cheating computer scum...

super!

excellent screen grab by the way tsunami

it's usa general independent then... gonna go scour the EA forums and see if anyone else has reported it ... Couldn't see it mentioned as a fix on the patch 1.1 details so maybe too late to get it patched up for 1.1 :\

I have a strange suspicion that this bug is one of the sensitive bugs listed on the community update

"Various other fixes too sensitive to reveal. Certain players may use them as exploits."

Now I think I'm gonna spend a few minutes trying to reproduce this somehow ...
