For thoes who have not seen the Ig Nobel awards (http://www.improb.com/ig/ig-pastwinners.html) it is for the pointless research really... winners of this year included "The amount of force to drag sheep across various surfaces." But the one that really stood out was......

BIOLOGY
C.W. Moeliker, of Natuurmuseum Rotterdam, the Netherlands, for documenting the first scientifically recorded case of homosexual necrophilia in the mallard duck.
