website transfer limit, what the heck do I do with it?

Hi all, my ISP has just informed me that as of now my monthly transfer limit has been doubled free of charge.

To-whit I now have at my disposal 500MB of webspace and and 6 GB per month limit, yes thats right, 6 (SIX) Gigabyte's a month upload from the website.

Just a question, what the heck do I do with 6GB of transfer allowance.

And before anyone mentions l33t w4r3z I am sure that were I to do so it would close my account faster than you could shout 'lawyers'.

So, anyone have any ideas, set up a download service of some sort, post pictures, songs from up and comg bands who send me their songs, any suggestions..?

Shame I cant put a games server on their, ho hum..

And if anyone is interested, I pay £20 a year, for 500MB space, and now a 6Gb per month transfer limit, from these guys, www.web-mania.com

But in all honestly, does anyone know what I can do with this, anyone have a super file that they want to share with the world, but dont have webspace.. provided you can prove its yours maybe it could be posted.. provided it demonstrates it being wanted enough... I am all ears..

if you run a particularly popular website, you'll have no problems filling 6gb. Hell my personal site with just pics pushed over a gig last month and that wasn't even publicised anywhere.

Tbh, you only need a couple of thousand visitors and some images, and 6gb will slip away nicely

6 GB ain't all that much to be fair. One of your suggestions was to host bands songs etc... Well slap a couple of bands on there with a couple of albums each. Now imagine 50 people a month download the lot (wh not, broadband is common and cheap) and 750 people listen to just a couple of songs.

That's (roughly) about 11 gigs gone through...!

I'd suggest sticking to the pics route :)

I used to host a site, that used just over 10gb a day, no downloads, just images.

5-6 GB is pretty standard for webhosting these days and you'll easily eat through it with an image-intensive site. If you start serving files then you can hit 100's of GBs with not much effort if the site gets linked as a mirror or otherwise popular.

u could host my Auk clanmovie....its 224mb :D sure we could use up that bandwidth in no time..whats that about 27 downloads - i reckon i could use it up in a day :D :D
