dont go with BT, they are poo. Also if you try to cancel the subscription ive heard that they keep taking the direct debit, if you stop paying them they cut off your phone. Try Demon, freedom 2 serve (NOT freeserve) or Nildram

I've been on BTo for about 2 years now, and I can't say I've had many problems. I've yet to test customer services, they basically behave themselves. Can't complain to be honest. I've been toying with swapping ISP, simply to get static IP, but I can't be arsed for all the aggro it'll cause.

i've not had too much trouble with my 600mb connection from NTL, but as jerky said the main reason for getting it has to be if you have or are getting NTL digital

My only really problem with NTL was last christmas I spent hours on the phone with support due to a near 56k service (on a 600k line) I now have upgraded to a 1Mb line and im more than happy with average download speeds of around 130Kb and game pings (quake3 and bf1942) sub 20s

I'll vouch for nildram, they offer a *superb* service, and their support is second to none (they actually still help you if you run Unix, as they presume you actually know what you're on about).

I also use them for one work connection, and i've never had any problems. Initially on my home line i had some atrocious packet loss, but a BT engineer came out and tweaked, and i've not had anything bad since.

Nildram ahoy!

I'm with NTL 1Mbit and it's like Greased Lightning. I've only had 1 problem which was back in February where my Digital Box would stop responding between 10 and 30 minutes. 1 week later, 2 engineer callout's and the box not fixed (due to software problems) i switched the service to my other Digital Box in the house. Now everything is fast and furious.

I work with both blueyonder and Tiscali and on the whole both of them are quite good, but if something does go wrong you want to be with tiscali as 99.999% the calls that go through are handled quickly and well. Where as I just sit on hold for 45mins waiting for blueyounder, and considering we only deal with bussiness customers this is not to quick!

Tis true i have been lucky with my NTL connection i only had "THAT" problem back in feb like everyone else when they were apparently "upgrading" their hardware  the thing with NTL is if you get a good line it's good, if you get a bad line it's BAD with a capital FFS

well tbh since monday my NTL 1Mb line for some reason as kinda died I can no longer play quake because my ping is beteen 17 and 999 with around and average 38% packet loss ... NTL are using this as an excuse

"Due to the Msblast virus that is currently circulating the internet, users may experiece poor performance or connection problem" ... scapegoat and a half!!

anyone got thoughts on Tiscali's ASDL? Yeah, I know someone who has/uses it.. and it breaks regually.. however it might be her crappy BT line, but i think most of the time its Tiscali being ******s :)

The MPUK DSL trial is going on atm. £75 install then £22 a month for 512/256 DSL straight into the MPUK racks, for uber low latency to our servers. 3 month minimum contract, no frills, wires only. Contact me if you're interested on wizzo@multiplay.co.uk. 1 Mbps and 2 Mbps services, and 1:1 contention services will also be available soon.

I've now got a BT ADSL Business 500 dealie. Not too bad technically. It can be up for days and even weeks at a time. So in terms of service not too bad. But I have the odd DNS resolution issue at times, nothing too serious but enough to decide I should be doing something better than mindless surfing.

Their customer service was crap, and considering we're a business customer I thought we'd get better than teh general public - so I pray to god nothing goes wrong with it.

In fact their customer service is so bad, that I have given up on getting email going, because they were treating *me* like the idiot.

Before that I had Telewest - now Blueyonder. Generally OK, with occasional (weekly) loses in service, usually no more than a few minutes. But the help desk really were nice and were willing to help me setup a firewall so I could run several PC's, even though its not officially supported.

Overall I'd say Blueyonder was a better all rounder.

As of next monday (6th october), Zen are doing a 1mb ADSL service for only £40 a month, im signing up for it.

If you can't get a good cable deal I recommend it.
