Posting in the correct forum this time http://www.multiplayuk.com/ubb/smile.gif

After adding a few mutators of my server, if someone without any of the mutators, models, joins the server, they automatically downloads them, even if the mutator isn't being using. Is there a way to only let the client download the files it needs??

i.e. if the server is running with Matrix Moves, you don't really need to download the Rocket Arena file.

Cheers for any help.

oh my god, oh my god, some one posted in the correct forum, oh my god, quick call the fire brigade, i have fallen off my chair and can't get up, oh my god, don't panic don't panic... quick, look intelligent... don't panic..

Erm yeah, right ((cough cough, splutter))
This is a double edged question, and it should read, when a player joins a game, it downloads the UPDATED maps and mods for that game, is this a problem, and if so, how can I change the outcome..

The question is...?

Is for for a LAN game or modem, if its modem god help you anyway's as it's a bugger for dropping packets all over the place..

IS it for LAN, if so, then infact, it's a blessing..

Why? because a new player will download the updates at 10MBp/s or even 100MBp/s (well almost, yeah I know its all about hard disk seek speeds + utilisation + IRQ requests etc etc etc) but the point is they will download them ultraquick, then, when they NEXT play that mod, they won't download it will they.

The best thing about lan gaming is you always take your pc away with all the latest mods and patches, so, if it is a lan don't worry, its a benefit, only takes a couple of seconds longer and in the end speeds them up.

If its over the telephone line, oh dear oh dear oh dear, it's hard enough to play normally as a client let alone a server, and I really wouldn't recommend it. Not unless, you have ADSL but even then i'd think twice..

Getting back to the question you originally asked, I haven't a clue m8, as for the reasons above,it hasn't been a problem before, but I will dig around and post the answer here in about a day..

cheers
