Hi all,

If anybody can help, I'd really appreciate it...

I'm connecting to Socom Online via a Netgear DG824M wireless router/firewall.

I've added the PS2 IP address to the firewall DMZ, and I can connect and play online ok.

However, as hard as I try, I can't get the headset to work online.

I've verified that the headset is working, by trying it in the offline singleplayer game, and it works great.

So, when I'm online, I hold down "o" on the joypad, I get the "beep". I say my message, let go of the "o" button, then I get another beep. The speech icon appears onscreen implying that it's being broadcast. However, I hear nothing. When I ask a question, and after it's been "broadcast", I will see the speech icon come up again, implying that somebody is answering my question...but I don't hear them

I've read many posts about port forwarding, but i can't seem to get it to work.

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Cheers,

ceesar

Bit sad to be responding to my own post...but never mind.

Anyway, thought folks might be interested to hear that I sorted it all out last night...

All thanks to "RabbitHole" on the official PS2 UK forums.

I've copied his text to here, but want to give kudos to RabbitHole! Thanks mate!

NETGEAR DG824M (voice fixed)
Hello all if you own a Netgear DG824M router and desperately having problems trying to set up voice headset for SOCOM Online.

I had problems for ages but heres the fix download the beta version of a firmware which fixes the problem as it adds UPnP which is needed. dnt know y im not that techie but it just does. I also set my PS2 with a fixed IP by going to LAN IP Setup ands then set up the ports for SOCOM voicehead set, by going to the firewall rules section and setting the IRC service (6600 -6669 UDP/TCP) to inbound and outbound services.

The beta version of the DG824M Firmware can be downloaded here http://www.netgear.fr/support/download/DG824M/dg824(m)_1318.zip version 1.3 release 18
