UGO Online have also posted a little about UT2004 and state a release date of around December 2003...

When Unreal Tournament 2 turned into Unreal Tournament 2003, it was an interesting take on sports franchise games like Madden, practically promising a yearly supplement to the popular FPS franchise. Well, it looks like they'll be following up on their promise, 'cause Unreal Tournament 2004 (UT2004) is already on the way, and it's looking great.

Because UT2004 is going to be at full-game prices (save for a rebate for those who purchased UT2003), the developers have made sure to include an absolute crap-load of content so that people get their money's worth. Along with all the bonus packs and patches already released for UT2003, 2004 will feature tons of new maps, models, options, graphics, tile sets and new gameplay modes.

The new gameplay modes are perhaps the most exciting, with Onslaught leading the pack. The mode will feature, for the first time in a UT game, controllable vehicles. The gameplay will actually be close to Battlefield 1942, in that you'll be capturing bases, thus gaining the ability to spawn there from then on. A few of the 7 vehicles planned include a Warthog-esque buggy with gunner position, a light skimmer ship, a slow but heavy tank, and a gunship that truly flies. The new modes will also feature new weapons, including Spider Mines, which will lay dormant until a nearby enemy activates it, causing the mine to latch on to the enemy and explode. Fun!

Unreal Tournament 2004 is due this Winter, when it's set to release, so we'll have to stick with regular ol' 2003 until then. But when this thing hits, don't expect to see us for a while.
